the .xxx extention has been approved and will be availible at the end of the year. Heres the updated article.... http://www.bobparsons.com/XXXApprovedAredl...tsanymoret.html
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Internet's primary oversight body approved a plan Wednesday to create a virtual red-light district, setting the stage for pornographic Web sites to use new addresses ending in "xxx" The Internet Corporation for *** Names and Numbers said it would begin negotiations with ICM Registry Inc., run by British businessman Stuart Lawley, to iron out technical issues and prices for the new Web addresses. Adult-oriented sites, a $12 billion industry, probably could begin buying "xxx" addresses as early as fall or winter depending on ICM's plans, ICANN spokesman Kieran Baker said. The new pornography suffix was among 10 under consideration by the regulatory group, which also recently approved addresses ending in "jobs" and "travel." ICM contends the "xxx" Web addresses, which it plans to sell for $60 a year, will protect children from online smut if adult sites voluntarily adopt the suffix so filtering software used by families can more effectively block access to those sites. The $60 price is roughly ten times higher than prices other companies charge for dot-com names. "It will further help to protect kids," said John Morris, staff counsel at the Washington-based Center for Democracy and Technology. Morris predicted some adult sites will choose to buy "xxx" Web addresses but others will continue to use dot-com. http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/internet/06/0...rn.ap/index.htm
This is a very good idea, as it will stop people being tricked into visiting sites they dont want to.
yu could purchase this and other "specil" domains @ registerfly.com for a while now, but many ISPs wont recignize them (as well as .tks)
rofl. This will never stop people from not going there. Just use this website. http://www.mezzy.com/s-index.php Type in the url, and guess what, it's not a .xxx. It's .com that leads to a site .xxx. It'll never work.
I wonder if non-porn sites will be allowed to use the .xxx as well, if for any reason they wanted to.
interesting question Mr.Albert, like for XXX the movie (w/ vindiesel) i bet they had a hard time with finding a domain...
Lol, thats money I dont really care though, Im not into porn, so yea, but that was nice to tell us that, gj
And ill be the first one to register the domain www.sex.xxx then a major company will buy it off of me for hundreds of dollars
I hate that though since most spam has a .com address...even though it will cut down alot on the problems
I think this is very nice. Even more for parents. In my opinion this should be enforced for porn sites. That way parents could easely block porn sites*. *Well not really .
