I am looking for medium/high pop (no queues) realm to create a hordeling on. I am sick and tired of the low pop on Ysondre so I am looking to either transfer all my Alliance characters, or start fresh as horde on a new realm, so if someone can refer me to a good alliance and/or horde realm, with good PvP, I would be very grateful.
I can't be arsed to find current populations, but I will find you some good servers and you can do the research on current population Mal'Ganis Blackrock Ner'zhul Kil'Jaeden (server I used to play on, rarely a queue) Cho'Gall Tichondrius (lots of horribads here) Illidan Mug'Thol Black Dragonflight Korgath Personally I have played extensively on Mal'Ganis, Blackrock, Kil'Jaeden, Cho'Gall, Tichonrdius, Illidan, and moderately on Korgath, so if you want my personal opinion of them (from a horde perspective) just ask. World PvP will be dead regardless of where you go, however the battlegroup will determine arenas and BGs. Stormstrike, Bloodlust and Rampage have been the 3 best PvP battlegroups since WotLK's release.
I haven't really been on many realms, but hearing from others some good high population realms, progression-wise and PVP sorta stuff I've heard Blackrock, Tichonrdius and Frostmourne are all fairly good. I'm happy on my server (Nagrand), however the PVP isn't overly strong but we're in a good battlegroup. And yeah like Dementia said, not too often you'll find World PVP. Only thing keeping it alive would be Wintergrasp really.
I was looking in on Tichondrius and Korgath today, but for Alliance. Korgath seems pretty good and the AH prices are about 50% of what they are on Ysondre, which would also mean I would make 50% of what I am making from professions on Ysondre. Nagrand I looked into a few weeks ago and it seemed good as well, though you can only pick up so much from Trade chat in Stormwind. I will probably end up transferring my alliance characters to another server, and then making fresh horde on another. It seems that every server I go to Horde greatly out number Alliance, which is not as fun so I am looking for something equal or reversed in horde/alliance ratio. I will do some more research and maybe level a hordeling on one of those servers mentioned, then maybe ask you a few questions Dem. Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys.
PvP Territory = Horde Territory PvE / RP / RP-PvP = Alliance Territory Alliance, overall, outnumber the horde by nearly two fold (ie, about 67% of the populace is alliance where 33% is horde), however PvP servers are generally largely horde dominated. Your best bet is running something with a similar ratio as you won't find any good pvp servers where alliance outnumber horde. Here is a site with a general idea regarding ratio: http://www.warcraftrealms.com/realmstats.php?sort=Ratio (it is often inaccurate as it doesn't get updated often) Here is a website with PvE progression in the US (updated nearly daily): http://www.wowprogress.com/realms/rank/us A lot of those high end servers are some of the largest and biggest pains to play on. People there tend to be a lot like me, assholes with huge egos whom you can never please. In addition, any good guild on those high population servers likely have or will be transferring to a low population server because server queues during peak hours are absolutely horrible (like Mannoroth lost... like 5 guilds recently because you absolutely could *not* raid without 10-25 seconds of lag at all points in time, made sarth 3d nearly impossible). If you have high hopes of getting into a well ranked guild to raid, I would recommend finding out which guilds are on top at the moment and see how they migrated in the past, see what their class requirements are, etc. If you just want a server to play on, just snag a medium population PvP realm with some moderate balance.
Well on EU Ghostlands, the server I've been on since the beginning, theres always a "For The Alliance" raid going, even though we're PvE. However, the pop is now Full, and the lag in Naxx and Dala especially is horrible and there are some big ques. No thoughts of ever switching though.
