Well, the reason there were so little murder in the past was: 1) There were fewer people. 2) People lived in smaller societies with more social control. 3) People were much poorer and had to care about other things. 4) Killing a slave wasn't a murder, murdering a village of native Americans was not murder. You are talking about a time with apartheid, were it was unthinkable to live as a homosexual or be different in any other means, where women were to obey their men. Poverty and starving were much more common, especially world wide and inventions and material things we take for granted were not even accessible to the richest. The only thing that has gone worse would be violence. Especially wars. The 20th century was a sad moment in history, still you should remember that compared with the population, ww2 didn't have nearly as many kills. Also the largest reason violence is increasing is that we have it so good. When my grandfathers were growing up they had to help their parents at the farm, otherwise they wouldn't get enough food on the table for the whole family. It's kinda logic that when you're largest concern is to get enough food to survive, you won't go out in the town and start a fight just for fun. While the youth today, their parents will give them everything they ever need until they are old enough. They can do whatever they want in the days...
ok before i post this i aint from the US i can say alot of the world is ----ed up because of the US but it isnt all their fault. i agree the world is becoming a worse place.
I dont know if nice and mean are really the best words to describe this kind of thing but the world is deff getting worse.
I'm not a big fan of the US, but that's just stupid to say. The largest problem in the world today should probably be starving and poverty in Africa. Asia is also bad, but there have hundreds millions of people gotten out of extreme poverty, much thanks to companies from Europe and the US investing there. And Africas problem is not caused by the western world, as it is created by power-hungry dictators who oppress people, start wars and crashes the economy cause of bureaucracy and control. I'm not a fan of Bushs war on terror, not his foreign policy overall, but I do have the insight that the casualties that it has caused are very very few compared to a lot of other wars that are fought as we speak. And as a person that doesn't live too far away from eastern Europe, your statement doesn't seem too thoughtful.
the world has always been nasty, just in different ways. people used to die at 40 from chickenpox, now we dont. so the world got better right? or you can look at murder rates... so its what peices of history you choose to look at really
I've got a better idea, let's blame VIDEOGAMES! /sarcasm off The world is definately getting worse, and as said before I'm not a big fan of the US but you can't blame everything on them. Things are getting worse in a lot of parts of the world, which is often (imho) due to people's attitudes changing, nowadays people don't care about others and they're attitudes are becoming "harder" so to speak.
