Wireless network connections defenetly aren't as stable as regular wired connections. I'v had expierience with them and I can defenetly say that if you want a stable, fast connection then always have a wired connection if at all possible.

Gaming on wireless connections can be ok, but you may find transferring files is slower and the reliability may be affected by the distance from the router.

ok, well im wireless, got a nice connection...as for gaming.

I play sounter-strike, and get pings of about 70-300 wether i am on a server close by(from this state, to the next) or wetther or not my brother in playing Counter-Strike at the same time.

I'm using wireless and I have found the following:

o File transfer speeds remain about the same speed as hardline (but it is obviously more noticable on larger files).

o Gaming pings are affected quite significantly and your speed will deviate from one server to another.

o To maximize performance, set your MTU size to suit the connection type This has a huge effect on reliablity and transfer speed. For example, I was using a smaller MTU size (manufacturer's default) and had many disconnect problems etc... however I had rectified this by changing it to a larger number, now I have NO disconnects and significantly lower pings.

    Thats my experience.

i dunno if you can game on it i think the others have sad enough of it
but i think you also have to secure it very very good because if someone just looks in a magazine whichs says that is the best wireless modem you can buy a receiver that goes with it and just walk true a street with you laptop and that receiver (everybody thinks it's good to buy something that is good rated in a magazine) and if you walk look at the connection :P i can asure you nowbody secures it's wireless inet because it takes to long

i am currently using wireless internet and my feelings are pretty mixed. if you want something stable, go for wired not wireless. but if you are senseless and if your plans go perfectly with that, go for wireless. for example, my carrier doesnt charge me by bandwith usage just monthly. and the monthly is equal to dsl worth around 30 hours. so obviously, wireless works better for me. check this out. in the past one month, i ve downloaded around 500 mb of stuff. which, had i been on a wired connection would have cost me around 6-7 times more.

sorry if im so confusing. havent slept for 22 hours as of now. that is what unlimited internet can do to me. ;)

edit:: shit i dont even remember writing this post. must have been extremely sleepy. lol. if ud like to know, i get speeds of upto 11kBps. but i can download at upto 4.5 kBps

Well depends on what kind of wireless you're talking about. 802.11a/b have speeds of up to 11mbps so that's definately fast enough for internet because the fastest connections are around 3mbps. There might be a problem with the bandwith if you're transferring large files and playing games at the same time because you gotta figure half of wireless bandwith is going to housekeeping.
