Ive heard that in WinRAR you can compress files

ive rar'd a file but i want to make the filesize smaller

if anyone could help i may give a few creds thanks !

 

Once it's compressed i don't think you can make it smaller.

 

I never tried it but u can try it first u compress the filter into a zip than u make a new folder and put that filter in that folder that you can either make it a exe or a rar or zip!

 

Doubt that will work...But you can try if you want.

 

7zip, I belive can make files upto 8 times smaller than winrar so try that

edit i just looked at filesize and it hasnt changed .ZERO how do you do it people

like a render pack i downloaded has over like 600 renders and its only 120mb HELP PEOPLE

 

I've already said, you can't make it smaller, i've asked my mate who's good with computers, said the same....Lol

 

What I usually do with HUGE files is compress the file with WinRAR BEST and then BEST for WinZIP then I make another RAR and compress it best again. The most I go up to is three zips or it is a pain. But it will make it really small.

 

I took a 500mb folder and compressed it down to be 180mb with WinRar..

To Comrpess with winrar, you do this

Open up Winrar
Navigate in Winrar to the file or folder you want to compress
Click "Add" at the top
Name the file what you want, select the Compression Method to be Best, and hit OK. It will then start the process of Compressing the files and you will be done It might take quite a while to compress though if it has a lot of files.

 

But he said he's compressed it, but he wants it smaller again, but i don't think he can...

 

Yes you can, just do what I said above, just select the already compressed file and change the name of it.. So if the compressed file was called Yourmom.rar, you would name the recompressed file Yourmom1.rar or something.

Recompressing doesn't do a whole lot unless the file is abnormally huge.

And Images don't compress well because most of them are already compressed because Gif, Jpeg files etc are already compressed automaticly.
