When it got done installing ( xp pro ) I got on my computer and it had horific resolution ( Yes i know how to change it ) it only give me five chopices which ALL looked horrific and it wouldnt let me just slide the resolution bar to fix it. Well i figured i was just a :censored: dumbass :censored: on that one, so i let it slide for a while. Well then i went and tried to install my Bellsouth dsl back on to my computer to get my internet going, well when i did that my computer was not picking up the cord connecting my modem to my computer ( It not a LAN connection it is the other one, i cant think of name ). So i told my mom ( Computer whiz ) and she said she will look but can you guys come up with any possible explanations and solutions to help me fix my computer( Im at a friends house typing this ) Thanks Pay big for help steve-o
it is your graphics drivers you need to install them ive youve got an nvidia card www.nvidia.com ati card -www.ati.com and find the drivers download them and install and it sould be fine
Definately check device manager (right click my computer>manage>device manager) and look for any issues. You may just have to get some updated drivers for your video card, and your modem, Ethernet card and such things.
What aabout the usb ports taht wont detect my modem being connected, because beofre i installed pro, then home back on, it was fine, so what about the usb ports.
Check device manager. I bet you are missing drivers for them. First get your drivers then all should be fine. I run into the same problem every now and then when reloading machines. I usually just do the ethernet card first then go to microsoft and do windows updates. They tend to fix most of them, then I install the left over ones after that. Hope it helps man.
and how do i find out what type graphics card i ahve i just ahve a normal dell all i did to it was add ram to it so how would i find out what grpahics card i have.
First, I would check your device manager and see if your ethernet card is OK. Then I would go to windows updates and install them first. You will get most of the ones you need from there. Also device manager can tell you what video card you have.
Thanks so much and when i get it fixed i will give u and the other guy some points but for now im gogin to write everyhting u postee ddown and call my mom to tell her to do theses steps.
