Ok, I was downloading some new styles and stuff for Windows XP home edition and downloaded a logon screen that didn't work. I hit apply (not knowing it didn't work) and when I tried to log off ... it wouldn't. I shut down the computer and when I tried to turn it back on ... i got this message after the windows loading screen ... before I got to the logon screen.

Thats exactly what it said in a box on a black background.
Neither OK or CANCEL buttons work ... it just makes a beeping sound. I know it is because of this bad logon file I downloaded ... but I have no clue how to get rid of it because windows wont even start up.

Will give credits if your work helps ... because this is serious.

    Thanks

Restart and when it prompts you to push F1 or something to start in safe mode? That MIGHT do something.

Either run it in safe mode, like posted above, or boot your computer through the Windows XP CD. Reformatting may be an option to consider.

Reformatting will erase all of my info ... won't it ... and I don't want to erase all my stuff. And I posted that it won't even start in safe mode ... I get the same message.

Then, reformatting seems like the only thing you can do. If you really don't want to, call your Computer's Company. (Dell, etc..)

If your computers company is dell, they have fee online tech support, its a live chat. Worked well for me.

    Cheers! ^.^

Free online chat? because I called Dell ... and they couldn't resolve the problem ... so they sent me to the advanced technicians ... and they said it would cost $100 for one call or $230 for a whole year of support. And I have no where near that money right now (im only 15) and my parents will kill me if they have to pay that much.

    You got an xp disc?

Use the repair option on that.

    That should fix it..
if you dont got it, find a friend with it.

When you start up Windoes you can push something before it gets to the login screen (the part with white writing on a black background) and get to safe mode.

go get a boot disk for windows xp and system restore from there, dunno wa all the safe mode rubbish is about, safe mode uses the windows xp loading thingy with the bar which is wat is causing this error, he downloaded a buggy one which wont load up therefore causing the system to have a hangover because its trying to load something thats not availible.... to put it simpley :D

um yeah get a boot disk and jus load up system restore
