I am in need of a new computer, that I will use for a lot of gaming, CS:S, CS 1.6, and I want some nice FPS.

I want to spend around $800-900 on it, 900 being the max, and I need somebody that knows a lot, and can help me out on picking the best parts.

If you build me an affordable computer, that I can use for gaming, and use for a while, I will give you 200 creds.

I need a pretty nice vid card and processor.

    Thanks,
    -Noob.

Righto, I am not looking for a monitor, and am looking to order the parts of newegg.

I have a monitor, a mouse, a keyboard, headset, all taht junk, I just need the main computer itself. And I would like you to link to newegg, I noticed I had 300 creds, so I'll give 300 to the winner. But I will be leavin this thread up a little bit.

    Okay, I'll try...
Does it has to include a case, monitor, keyboard or mouse?
And where do you live? Does it has to be bought right now, or can you wait a few weeks for some parts? Are you willing to overclock?

    Asking the same thing.

Post a list of what extras you want too, like monitor etc or gamepad or anything like that. ;)

    you also need good ram

these are the "extras" he wants, and he said build a computer, not find accessories, so im guessing he is looking for the main build

    gfxcard
    soundcard
good cooling (if he wants to OC)

I am assuming he wants something which just works no monitor or crap.

I will have to do some research on the motherboard(I will liekly be using the same one which I recomend to you)

Conro "Core 2 Duo" 6300 $210ish or the 6400 for 250ish(will need to check price again though)
OK/good motherboard(hopefully 100-150, I need to research for myself on this as well)
    2GB DDR2-800sd RAM(G. Skill teal) $190
    Antec TX1 w/e the hell case w/ 500W antec PSU $120
    Seagate Baracuda 320GB PRM harddrive(RAPTOR-LIKE SPEED!) $99
    x800GTO $110(best bang/$ out there right now)

then in BIOS set the memory to run at it's specified 800mhz on it's default timings and you get the effective performance of the Core 2 E6600. If you want a little more you can get the 6400 to E6700 levels fairly easily. Stock cooling/voltage should be sufficient if most reviews are corect.

if you have 900 bucks... mm..

i would recommend buying a p4 processor, around 3 or 3,2 ghz, you dont need more to play cs 1.6 and css, i have the same and its the best atm. getting a 3.7ghz processor is stupid, simply. look at the games you can play, none of them requires more than 2.6ghz.... 3ghz makes them smooth. (even bf2, for those who play it)

as for the video card, you should look for radeon or gforce cards, since they are the most known and recommended companies... dont go for a 400$ vid card, it would be 400% useless... go for around 140$ if you want to keep it for some time.

hard drive: 160gig, not more, or it will get useless. (paying 300bucks only for a hd? erg... 160gig, and replace it when you feel like replacing it)

RAM! those 3 letters tend to scare some people sometimes... my advice: 1g DDR ram... simply... 120$ for 1g, and you wont have to worry about it for a long time... (again, 2g, 3g, 4g is a waste...)

regarding to the rest, go as you budget says so, try to make a balanced computer out of that... go search in specialized stores for parts, they usually sell it cheaper... sound cards are not the most important of all, make your computer run before making it perform... cooling system can be the default chipset cooling system, if you are in an open space, and have a good air flow in the room... be also sure to get a motherboard compatible with your chip, eh?

keyboard/mouse/headset/speakers/w.e.: go on a shopping spree... go to wal-mart, best buy, futureshop, staples, burger king, anywhere you can find them for cheap, since the goal is to save money. later, when you will have more money, you will be able to choose between upgrading parts or accesories...

if someone comes up to you saying "oh get this latest thingy, get that uber gizmo", dont do as he/she says, or you will waste your cash. simply. with 900$, getting a "machine" is impossible...

i hope this helps you, its my philosophy regarding computers

ps: overclocking removes most of the warranties put by the fabricants and retailers, so i would suggest to NEVER EVER EVER EVER do that unless you find enough cash in a wallet on the sidewalk to pay a spare chipset...

you my friend, are full of ----. the e6300 on stock outperforms a 3.6-4.0GHz dual core Pentium 4(aka Pentium D) uses less energy and overclocks a ----load better(as in to around 3.0GHz at point where it is compareable to a 5.5-6GHz Pentium D). There is a reason why intel ahs scrapped the p4 project. Only thing with pentium in the name that i can reomcend is the PD805.

1GB is acceptable but rmeo and more things are getting hungry for 2GB

a 320GB barracuda costs 15$ more than the 160GB version.

also, the latest and greatest is exactly what it sounds like, the latest and greatest. Conroe is an increadible chip. I sold my opteron 165 system so I could get a conroe based system.

a lot of your information is either technically correct, but entirely useless. You shoudl look into joining microsoft.

also, there are a lto fo games which are hungry for a system with the equivilent of a 5.0GHz P4, FEAR, UT07(which will so own) look at the first benchmark, conroe effectively doubles the FPS over the Pentium Based systems(and they have two x1900XT/Xs in crossfire)

There ya go, I updated post. And yeah, I will be looking in running better games too, I want the most powerful system for my dollar. Plus, I kinda hate Pentium, haha.

$$$$? maybe it does, but getting the money is another story... i have no doubt its much better, i know, it is, but is it necessary? if you have so much to invest on a computer... then you must be rich. we, the people, dont have to get the lastest stuff to own at gaming, uh?

true. 95% true actually... skyline mentionned cs1.6 (which can run on a 733mhz computer...) and css, which runs smoothly enough with 1g. a 2nd gig of ram can be added at any time if you buy a game that needs more...

    160g= 64,90 € 320g barracuda= 99,90 € thats 35 euros more, approx 50USD...

Im doing my best, sir. Ill consider microsoft as plan B to my career.

yeah, they said the ps2 would have much better graphics, hl2 would be out in 2004, the xbox360 would cost 270$ with the hard drive...
-i played fear, it looks like the game "prey", and it does not require 5.0ghz, sorry...

max fps is 105 in cs1.6 and css. your eyes cannot make any difference between 125 and 200 fps... unless youre a superhero, gg. your monitor might not even keep up with the *great* fps from a more costy system...

i suggest you refrain from making posts with that kind of introduction, considering this is a personnal and unnecessary attack.

    lol, i found that ---- first:P
lemme give a go at this.

    Merged Post:

First off, the processor should definally be the E'6300, no doubts.

    CPU: ($200)
    Core 2 Duo E'6300

    Motherboard: ($230)
    ASUS P5WE2-E Premium
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813131589

    RAM: ($209)
    OCZ Plantinum 2x 1GB DDR2 800
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227089

    Graphics Card: ($90)
    Radeon x800gto
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814131007

    Hard Drive: ($67)
    Seagate 160GB
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822148149

    CD/DVD R-RW:($30)
    NEC CD/DVD R-RW
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827152058

    Case: ($75)
    Aspire X-Plorer
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811144100

    Total: $901 (Without Shippping)

Count on the E'6300 being less then $200, and hopefully cheaper BadaXe motherboards coming out.

Nice build, was suprised all that was $901. I am assuming these are american prices though. But even nowadays the exchange rate isn't that much, impressive build. More than enough to run the basic games these days.

that build can do alot more then run basic games

    n!te man. come on
nope you can get 2gb of ram for less than 60 bux more and you wont need to spend another 100 latter on. plus ther is noway any one will beable to run vista on 1gb i tried then want to go kill my self and every one at Microsh**.(i am expecting that he wants this build to be able to support vista, becuase i know i would not want to put 900 down just to have to upgrade in less then a year.) i am not a supporter of MS in any way i think that we should all use linux but that is besides the point.

wow were you thinking, i think you get less inteligent as you type. dude the e6300 are almost cheaper then the P4's. i mean come on. why would you get a worse CPu for about the same amont, just for the fun of upgrading? with games moving to multi threading you absolutly need a dual core that can hold its own. and come on a dual core that can beat out alot of the best CPU's for around 200.

well i am not trying to be mean but he was making fun of you for working at MicroSh** because they use actual data that means absolutly nothing.

I may be upgrading to Vista, yes, but I will be using it for new games that come out in the future.
