America has been around for barely 240 years. The Roman Empire lasted a couple thousand. And at the rate the world is going, the next generation of superpowers will be India and China. America will start to fall behind in the late 21st century into the early 22nd century.

And yes, you guys must be kidding...China will not overpower the US anytime in the near future, as will any other country. As long as we change our current president, we will continue to thrive. Just because we are in debt (which shneaky, mind you, was the 'True Patriots' fault) doesn't mean we will fall from the stage. We have gotten out of things like this before, and we will do so again. China depends on the United States for their ever increasing economy.

Dude, I may saying this about my country only because I know it is true and it will happen. Research first about how fast China is growing in comparison to the United States. Also the reason mainly why our economy is failing is Bush and the rest of the government spending money on the war in Iraq which we are ready to almost pull out of anyway and other useless things that we pay for. Also, the recent natural disasters have cut into our economy but it is rare for us to get such bad disasters unlike other countries. I think it was Shneaky that said it but, yes the US is going into another depression, no one knows when it is going to happen if it will happen tomorrow, 1 year or even 50 years in the future. With a stock market, things are liable to crash. Hopefully with the new election, someone will be elected who does something with the war, does something to help our debt and does stuff to help Americans more than Bush and his advisors are doing right now. I may have said something in the above which may be incorrect or soemthing so just tell me or something. EDIT: Atreyu, yes, it is completely inevitable that China will become the superpower of the world. We are not saying that we will never recover because no one knows, we might. But yes, China will become bigger and have the better economy. (Even with us supporting their economy, they will still overpower us but just not with the big as margin as I have probably suggested.)
I don't think the US will fall as a global superpower. Be it positive or negative, the sphere of influence of US interests extends far and deep across the entire globe, as does our business. We keep our debt to ourselves, but we spread ourselves over the earth with capital like melted butter. If (in some stretch of the imagination) we do fall as global superpower, it would be due to all of the damned outsourcing we do. We send jobs that should be done here overseas. Anyone in America who's ever had to call Dell for tech support, and got connected to someone in New Delhi, India got a first hand look at outsourcing. Unemployment here is rather high, altough the benches in the parks near where I work are empty. I guess the police are killing homeless people and hiding the bodies. :blink: But seriously, we make to much money for the rest of the world for them to have to rely on anyone else to give them business.

Heh, this is getting quite fun. As far as I can gather, we are never going to nuke Iraq. All we are doing right now is aiding the Iraqi army to kick the bad guys ass. They already have a few thousand people in their army, correct me if I am wrong, and does not need as much support as we are currently giving them. I am done with this topic, getting tired. I might post later though.
