Why is the word p.r.o censored? It is just an abbreviation for the word p.r.ofessional.

    Thanks for any answers.

its because the words to do with classing got abused a while ago when people were doing auctions and offers/requests.

They said about the 'quality' (ranking) of their work repeatedly, to influence others to buy. Having a high ranking also meant people thought that they could boost the prices on pieces that may not have actually been worthy of said price.

Basically, it was an overused method of 'marketing'.

Ah like that. I understand it then, but I still think it is the wrong way to handle those problems.

It's like you may not drive too fast on the streets, let's banish all cars. If you understand. :P

No, the word p.r.o can be used to abuse it. But it can also be used in a lot of different situations, where the word is just good.
And it's the same with my example. A car can also be used for abusing, but it is not getting banished.

But I don't care if you guys handle this method. Allright. :) Thanks for the answers.

Not a very common word to use but I have used it before on this site when talking about Windows XP P.r.o
I simply just add the periods because I am not using it the way you all intended for it to be blocked. Doesn't really matter to me either way.

We have the rules because we need them to avoid drama.

This rule might be ridiculous, but that only says something about the members who caused the rule to go into affect in the first place.

Please bear in mind that every rule is here for a reason, and we don't add them for fun.

Sorry, this board isn't for ratings. You can stress the e-peen elsewhere.

Frankly, people doing grunge signatures in the time of C4D would post up 'omfg pro tag, 2.5k credits' which led to stupid inflation. 'Artists' would go to other sites, namely NSL, an abnormally biased set of judges whom give ratings based highly on personal feelings towards an individual, and then they would come here and be like, 'omg pro rated on nsl, my sigs are worth a bare minimum of 2k over here' and thus, all the nubs here let the credits inflation go up because they felt their crappy tags were pro. They claimed to be rated pros, etc. and 90% of the time it sold the tag, and no one even cared to look it up.

Credit inflation went up drastically because of a single word. Perhaps if you understood the GR economy you would have realized that was the reason why it was made GP.

Also, Nica is correct. We make rules because privileges are abused. If our member base could learn to not abuse every single remote privilege, we wouldn't have to create and enforce rules like this. Again, something you would know if you actually paid attention at all to any of the reasons why any new rules are instated or removed.

every other video card has the word pr o in it
    sem iis a common adjective

I'd say roughly 10% of my posts are censored by this and it annoys the heck out of me.

if possible it is it able to be done such that the censorship doesn't affect the general forums but just the marketplace?
