Why Can't I Use My Second Monitor As A Primary Display?

    Well was helping a neighbor set up their new computer with an extra 24 inch monitor/tv.

    On my computer I have this option

    but when I connect the monitor on theirs that is grayed out, and on monitor 1, both are grayed out.

    The gfx card is a built in ATI Radeon X1200 Series.

    Its kinda old and its a laptop, windows xp ---, I also tried to update the drivers for the card and it didn't do anything for me.
