Which Processor?

    I'm bying a new computer and I need to know out of the two choices which one is better

    @ stock, I'd say that the athlon is better.

    overclocked, the c2d pulls ahead.

    Chances are the guy doesn't know enough about computers to overclock the P4. Your best bet is to just get the X2 and leave it stock.

    its not a core 2 duo, its a regular one xelink

    it's a c2d with less l2 cache and a different name for marketing purposes.
    pentiums have been relegated to the low end.

    if its complicated just get the amd right?

    yes if you dont know what you are doing you can ruin the cpu maybe other parts also you will void the warranty

    You overclock your CPU in the bios, if you are just a normal pc user, don't even try.
    Read this, should explain alot.

    I dont think you can damage you Cpu if you dont up the voltage, if you just up the fsb, you'll be ok. Im running a core 2 duo [email protected] for at least 5 month with the original fan and I have no problem
    The core 2 duo got a better support for overclocking so I would recommand you to make some research on overclocking. And if u really dont want to overclock, just check this chart for performance ------>tigersdirect chart

    Ive got the AMD its great.

    My dad has the intel and its suckish imo >.<
