Okay. I am not being an ass, I am not mad, and I am NOT looking for what I am about to confront. I am a bit confortable but, I am just wondering what happened.

Well, you know how people want you to be more generous? Like, "GIMME FREE TUTS" or "DONATE SO WE CAN DONATE." Well, when we give out free tuts or we donate to be nice, like they have asked us, what happened to being nice back? I mean, a (+)Rep would be nice.. it takes 2 seconds, just a couple buttons away and costs you nothing but those couple of seconds of your time. Don't get me wrong, I love everyone and I don't even care if they leave a post. But, if you read a tut and love, or hell, even like it... you should leave them some kind of credit... does anyone agree with me?

I agree with this, and I've plus repped people just for giving out good resources for free.
I'd like to sit here high and mighty and go on about how information should be free, but I myself have tried to sell tutorials, so I've got no room to talk. If you put hard work into it and need the credits, I see where you're coming from, but people with like 1000+ credits trying to sell tutorials is kind of annoying.
Annoying to the point that the people who DON'T do it should be rewarded. This is not to say the people who do should be punished; it's just a personal belief of mine that information should be free.
    Couldn't agree more with this.

we feel for you, akw... Well, I got about 10 reps from my Free software list, about 5% of people who posted a 'wow' or 'thanks for the list'

just remember one thing. Rep is not currency.

Rep is just so overrated in these forums... even (-)reps are getting out of hand sometimes...

This is the entire reason tuts were sold... they got something out of the deal.

Get this, I get more rep from selling tutorials than releasing them publically. I sold 1 tutorial 25 times and got like 4-5 rep and there was only like 40 replies in that thread.

I let 1 tut go publically and it got over 120 replies (about 10 from myself) and i didnt get a single rep. People on these forums are ungrateful, and its aggitating to those who put their time and energy forward to do something to benefit the site in general, which includes other members.

Well to be honest i can see what your saying
    but ...
when you give something out for free thats exactly it free people will rep / credit you if they feel like it or think you deserve it some may not

ive given out tons of stuff for free and didnt expect anything in return IMO its called community spirit ;)
when you give somthing for free dont expect anything in return cos 9/10 times you wont get it
sometimes a reply or a comment is worth so much more than a rep or a few credits ;)

I see where your statement is coming from as well. Now, lets drop some statistics.

Of getting or opposite.. not sure how you stated it.

You say 9 times out of ten... I say 1 out of 20 you will get a plus rep

You post a tutorial that you could normally sell for 50 a pop for free. You get 120 replies and 6 -reps... that is a 3.3333~. That makes my stats closer than yours. As a 90% statistic yours would be 120 replies and 108 - reps. That IS NOT how it ever plays out.

Yeah I got that AFTER I posted... still my stats show.. besides.. I did mention I did not understand her completely before I posted it. I said either or... but not in those exact words.

But, even then your success rate is still better than my presumption of 1/20 because you would have mentioned 1/10 therfore making the success rate of your getting reps better than mine.

Note: I am tracking something (BUSY) and I am tired it is 01:58 AM

my point being is that if you give somthing for free you shouldnt expect anything in return

i agree people are selfish on the reps and creds but thats the way its been for a long time

ive gotten reps for things ive done renders , userbars , giving out free tutorials , animated buttons , wallpapers , brushes
    all given out for free
but not once have i expected anything in return you shouldnt if you are willing to give them out for free

    its nice but ...
a reply / comment goes a lot further

I was never once talking about credits. I would much rather have a reply. Credits are nothing to me... Reps and Replies mean the world.
