people thought it would be cool to start their own GFX forums. Most of them failed and probably never returned.

due to a lack of management, updating, and not keeping promises i say admins have more guilt than members.

I guarantee more of them left because of you, mehz, majin, and all the other twats I've been suspending recently for inappropriate behavior. It's because of you guys that we had Zohair write me a formal e-mail explaining to me why he was leaving the website (before I convinced him to stay) and he is not the first person to write up a formal complaint against you guys and leave afterwards.

Management is far from an issue, when an issue arises, it's taken care of. We assign duties to each mod, and it's their individual responsibility to carry out their duty, if they do not, we correct the issue, the only time this has ever been an issue is in SOTW - which has never been ran 100% smoothly regardless of who is running the site or the sotw.

The updates are not a fault of the admins in any way, shape or form, it is purely from the lack of anyone being able to take care of the work GR requires and sticking with it (none of which is an administrators duty, nor do we have any authority in the matter - if we pay someone for work and they end up deciding they wouldn't touch the code regardless of the amount they get paid we can do nothing).

The promises we make are as good as the promises given to us by the people we hire. The work should be done within a set period of time, but the fact remains that Llamaman and Big Dave have fucked the site up so much that anyone who begins to touch our site immediately turns around and leaves after looking at the job (it isn't small, we've made that clear multiple times and it isn't easy work - even for an IPB experienced coder).

Currently Shaggy is working on his own mission, because he has more connections in the area he's moving towards, so that should speed up the update process in the future. On the other hand, we want to make sure GR v4 is perfect and we aren't going to prematurely release GR v4 before we are positive most of the major kinks have been worked out (between the skin, the code, the rep and points totals, etc.). It's because of anyone we've hired that we have decided not to announce or promise anything until it's ready to happen. People are unreliable, and it's something we've learned quite extensively here on GR.

On the contrary, Danny could have done his part for v4. He requested that shaggy install or update something on IPB so Danny's CPU would stop getting eaten up as it was pretty much killing his CPU. Shaggy wouldn't do it.
And I'm pretty sure even more of them left because our admin, Dementia, was just as bad. By the recent change in your attitude, I assume you've realized this and picked up a new leaf.
By the way, I'm not a twat.

You are a twat. Just as much as undertow, majin, jay, tnuck, etc. all were (and most of which still are). If Lbot asked Shaggy to do that, neither Sanity or I had heard of it, or we'd have taken care of it (if it was something we had access to). It's never been a secret that getting Shaggy to do anything is like pulling on teeth. Yes, I am an arrogant, egotistical douche bag, I've also been the one here disciplining most of you since before you registered. Frankly, the removal of the last word should have been when I started handing out suspensions and bans, but honestly I wanted there to be a 'cooldown' grace time after we removed it because we already knew all of you guys would spill out all over the forum when we changed it back to off topic, so I tolerated it. Frankly, by now, I'm sick of you, tnuck, jay, undertow, inverse, maj, etc. which is my reason for banning and suspending you all. I don't need it, GR doesn't need it, and the members of the site don't need it, so tolerating it isn't within question.

Unfortunately, while it's generally easy to carry those values over, we still need to strip the database down, which is one of the hardest jobs. The other component of the job is figuring out what mods work behind the scenes that Llama / Dave installed, especially things which prevent or fix vulnerable areas, which is worse than trimming the DB.

In addition, certain things need to be in the right space if we were to change forum software (as an example).

If I'm a twat, then so are you. And I'm quite sure most of GR is sick of you too by now.
Come on, who likes an e-badass with an undeserved ego as an admin?

Sorry, the fact that I've done more for this site than anyone with the exception of Sanity Penguin puts me to a status where an ego is deserved. Frankly, the only people who dislike me are the people who are punished by me or due to bias. A majority of the member base who doesn't get involved or punished by me would say that I'm doing my job as an admin should. I get rid of those who need to be kicked out, I check up on my staff to make sure they are doing their job, and I see that the site continues running smoothly. Any other matter is generally out of my hands, or not entirely within my personal capabilities.

Discussions between staff and members like this can be found pretty much everywhere on GR. I wonder what kind of effect is has on new members who see that staff and members just can't get along.
