ya if ur really gonna play like 3d games go for 8800GTX 768MB...if money aint the problem...i have 8800GTX and let me tell u its amazing...
Well depends on how big of a monitor u have if u only have a 19-20" then I say get one new 8800GTS 512 or a GTX but if u have 22" + then I say go with the HD3870x2- fastest card on the market or Ultra. If you want know more MSN- [email protected].
you get what you pay for if you have a lowend card with 1000000mb RAM of which none if ti's really used, then it doesn't matter. the HD3850s are a great card for the money, though the 9600GT and 8800GS are kinda squeezing it a bit and are probably a bit of a better buy at this time.
I'd get the 8800GTS512 it's cheaper and is usually DAMN close or slightly faster. also uses less power and dissipates less heat. at lower resolutions, say 1680*1050/1600*1200 or lower the 8800GTS512 tends to be a tad faster. At far more jacked up settings the GTX does tend to do a bit better, but usually when ti gets to that point you'de want to go a little lower anyway for better frames and/or the difference is negligible. basically if you have a 88800GTX and you want to a 8800GTS 512mb you wouldn't notice much of a difference. Therefore opt for the cheaper once since they'll all be obsolete anyway. also the 8800GTS512 is a better overclocker. Overclocked GTS vs. overclocked GTX will usually result in the GTS winning. THe GPU in the GTS is basically a more refined GTX GPU and it'll do around 20% higher core speeds so you get more processing power with the GTS. The GTX has a better memory bus though. The only thing is most people found that the memory bus on the GTX was overkill. Also the GTS uses somewhat faster memory so that narrows the gap a bit more. again I'm saying that if I had $500 to blow on stuff I'd get the GTS and put the other money elsewhere. Heck try getting a good heatsink for the GTS like an HR-03 get a good fan and if it's your thing overclock the sucker to hell. Those things do really well. heck one reason why the GTS looses in those cases, but only barely might I add, would potentially be due to a memory deficit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...amp;Tpk=8800gts if you really want the best... word to the wise though, not any faster than the regular GTS except at VERY high resolutions or settings. Think crysis at 1920*1200(that's 10% higher than 1080p FYI) or Gears of War at 2560*1600
