Probably the 100th topic like this over the ages of GR, but yes; it's back. Not gonna post it in the news section, but just as a general topic. Feel free to share you agony about what needs to be changed or give us brilliant ideas of what you would like to see (again) on this site? Keep in mind that this is an idea topic and that not every idea will be taken to the test. This can be because we don't like it or simply because it's impossible to implement. But do know that we will look into every possible thing you guys suggest. And one last thing; keep the flaming to yourselves this time. This is not a topic to rant about how GR will or is going down the drain or whatever black shit you have on your mind. First one to do will be looking at a 7-day ban from yours truly.
i think GR should focus more on the community side of the forums, as the whole tag/sig making is dying. we've always had lots of discussions in the community section and it looks even with fewer members online the most active section on the site. Keep the graphic part of the site lower on the to-do list.
Yeah, even if activity on the site picked up again, I wouldn't go back to making sigs. I'd rather it focussed more on discussion.
Yeah ok, I get the fact that sigmaking isn't popular anymore. It was never really popular with me so yeah. But in terms of focussing on the community. All nice and stuff, but how do you actually implement such a thing. You can't go and force people to post topics?
maybe get some competitions going like member of the month.. or most contributing member. and post topics on the latest stuff.. so people can discuss it over here with familiar people. and change the forum structure more to the community. Also create a frontpage with whats going on in the community.
To be honest, I can't think of a single thing, short of investing tens of thousands of dollars into promotions, that will revive activity here. The community was the result of the GFX community. A community will not form around nothing, and without a common cause, I don't see how we could convince people to join and stick around.
Sadly, I have to agree on that one. Communities aren't just formed, they do need a sort of common ground. Seeing as gfx (as in sigging) is getting behind, I'm wondering what other grounds we could focus on. Perhaps we need to go back to the roots and focuss more on gaming, with gfx sort of as an addition?
Anyone else here a writer? Anyone else here a fan of classic literature such as Wodehouse or Steinbeck? Gaming is okay, except what exactly would we discuss?
I don't think GR should focus on a specific item like gaming or writing to raise activity, don't think it'd work. GR is graphics from history out, but you can expand it to gaming, just make it logical.
