i think that real good sigs now dont use just one style but many together. Ex. grunge/smudge. Each person has his/her unique style i think. As for individual styles there is vector, abstract, smudging etc... u can find useful tuts on here or if u have just started out try good-tutorials

I don't consider things like "C4D" or "sprites" to be a style, they're really just resources just like stocks or cut outs.

Here are a couple that I do consider "styles", everything else will fall under these categories more often then not:

Abstract- Usually includes sharp edged(solid, even if you set it to something there are still solid bits and pieces) undefinable shapes.

Grunge- Most easily described as a dirty or aged(withered) look.

Vector- Includes singular colored shapes(definable and undefinable), even if you overlay multiple colors over the shapes the base of them is still one color.

    .:Edit:.
Manipulation- This usually just involves enhancing or changing the natural color of a stock(digital photographers probably use this the most).

Odd, almost never heard of styles:

"Mecha"- You would probably have to see 'em to know what I'm talking about, but these are tags made to look like machines(usually made up of undefinable machines).Because you can define them as "machines" I consider them to be their own style. These tags look a lot like these templates:http://demondan666.deviantart.com/gallery/#vBulletin-Skin

"Collage"- It's kinda like vector, but not quite which is why I would consider it it's own style.I would explain them as a style you would use in a scrap book. Here is an example of one:http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/2986/joannajy5.jpg

"Realism"- This one is a little more heard of, though not quite as popular in most communities like the top styles(abstract, vector, grunge).Simply put it's taking bits and pieces of old scenes and putting them together in a way that fits to make a whole new scene.

There can be mixtures of all of these of course (people use to label 'em things like grunge-stract and stuff like that).

Realisim is like the one in my tag with the train.

    styles:
    vector
    smudge
    grunge
    abstract
    realisim
    blur
    b/w
    manip
then combo of the lot... everyone is unique, thats why tuts are always being made.

Lol, no problem. And just as example of other things falling under those top main categories:

Smudge- If the tag is mostly made up of smudging it could go under the Grunge or Abstract category depending on things like what type of brush you use to smudge.

C4D-The majority will only use abstract renders for their pieces, thus putting this one under the abstract category(of course if you were to do something to them like smudge them with a chalky brush then it could be considered grunge)

P.S. I also forgot to mention the "Manipulation" style, usually just involves enhancing or changing the natural color of a stock(digital photographers probably use this the most). Also I changed my description of the abstract style a bit.

    To my knowledge there are:

    Grunge sigs
    Sprite sigs
    Abstract sigs
    tech sigs
    smudge sigs
    vector sigs
    photo manipulation sigs
    digital painting sigs
C4D sigs (closely related to abstract)

That's why I say everything can fall under all those categories that I posted, and a lot of other things people call "styles" are really just techniques and resources. If you were gunna call all those things "styles" then you could say things like color, sharpness, stocks, "renders"(cut outs"), borderless, etc. are "styles".

I'd consider my raptor tag to be a realism tag.. It was created with the purpose of looking like it came from a photograph or something, even though a stock was used and was built around. :)

Realism is my style ;) and its FTW :D
