I've been on upwards of 2-3 hours a day, minimum, and anyone who has reported any posts know that, or if anyone has seen advertisement topics because I've been the one deleting and banning those members. If you left the general section you'd have seen a post from me in the signature section (which you'll know has happened like 10 times since GR was made). No posts have been made which warrant a response from an admin. I see Sanity online quite often, Shaggy is less often, but that is likely largely a result of the times when he and I are online.
IMO when I first came here, "the old gr", it was great. Post up a sig/wallpaper and get commented/cnc. There were crews trying to do collabs with renders and stuff, it was very social. But it slowly went to a place where, almost every thread that got posted up that was "in progress" and they asked for cnc, it was either no one replied but theres tons of views, or some smart ass saying something rude. I think the social part just went out the window somehow, and that made me come here less and less everyday. And all the sections for renders made it harder to navigate. My 2cents
I joined back in 06 on a different user account, I definitely remember how active this place used to be. I'd like to see it that way again, and I believe fully that it can be. Given the right amount of user-based promotion. The only thing is finding something GR can offer that no other forum can. I feel like the GR credit system was one of the most efficient credit systems ever implemented on a forum; seriously, GR credits had a USD exchange rate.
It's basically dead. Plain a simple. It's sad to admit, but there's really nothing anyone can do about it. It won't return to how it used to be. The only people who are still here are the members who have lingered around since the beginning, and a few new members who randomly joined. But the crews were a fad. They died out. There was not enough structure holding them together. Half the crews that were created were just jokes and the members never did anything. People didn't take it seriously. And here we are now. A board change is great and all, but if that's all for v4, then this site is done.
Every signature site I know is obsolete, with the exception of PR (which I don't like all that much). GR was my first, though, and I'll stick around.
That is my biggest point right there, the new system is great, but there just has to be something additional that we offer that no one else does to make it worth using. Like I said, that's where the credit system came into play. I hate to beat a dead horse here, but seriously, that was the one driving force that kept people using the site.
The credit system WAS great until the worth of it went really low and no one wanted credits anymore, EVERYONE was trying to sell them for real money. Hell, I sold a WoW account over credits for $40 and now their gone, so I got screwed and I doubt im the only one who got screwed over. Other people probably got pissed and left this site.
1 - Updates are coming. It doesn't help when the primary admin decides to take long stretches of AFKs immediately after opening a new board. The other admins don't have the ability to do a lot of modifications without talking to him first. 2 - You had literally months worth of foreknowledge that credits were going away, we gave you so much notice intentionally. If you made deals after that point in time and failed to distribute your credits... shame on you for not listening to us. I had over 200,000 credits, so I think it's safe to say I got hit worse than any of you (given, I don't care about them).
And I blame idiots like you, who don't see the effort moderators and admins put into the site and insist on blaming them for wrong doings not committed by them.
