if you already have two sticks of 512 in dual channel, why not get 2*1gb insteed? that way you won't have to throw away your second set to upgrade ram in the future as you will have maxed out windows XP x32 at 2.5 something gigs of ram
hmm so your telling me my computers not working at the moment. its value ram. The only ram compatibility issue DFI has is with corsair. DFI has the best bios, genie. 4x 512mb sticks of ram isnt good. Why didnt you just say you had all the stuff already, instead of making us waste our time to tell you what you should get. Oh and dont come here complaining because your pc blew up as you didnt have a good psu with good 12v rails or stability. Xelink, windows supports up to 4gb ram. 64bit edition supports like 120gb.
I could have sworn... wait must have heard that from AWP... damn... well I feal liek a retard repeating that forever, knew I heard of the 4gb limit before... XP Pro 64 supports 4 exabits of ram though, not 120GB... huge diference... like 1000000 times heh...
guys, how do i use x2 512MB sticks and then x2 1GB sticks? i thought they all had to be the same size.... well if i can use x2 1GB sticks with my current x2 512MB sticks than thats what ill do...
no we are saying it is stupid to run 4 sticks of ram. especially if you oc as it drops ram from 1T to 2T.
why is it stupid? ive had three sticks in my comp before and it runs fine... anyways, who wants to buy used 512MB ram anyway? why would i just throw out 1 gb of perfectly good ram for the same stuff in just less space taken up? im gonna get two more sticks of 512MB..... oh btw defusion.... my pc wont blow up, ive had 2 gbs in it before... thats the difference between u and me, u talk about this stuff, i experiance. my whole live ive been around computers... and i know a lot about hardware.
if you want to think your pc will run better by all means go ahead. But alas it wont, you will get better performance with only 2 dimms used. And especially with 4 dimms being used. Cant wait til you say OMG why is my ram only running at ddr333 (PC2700), its meant to be running at ddr400. Well thats why you dont use 4dimms.
I just had 2 256 sticks in my old pc......and when I went to put in a 512 stick, my computer stopped working........it was the saddest day of my life.
lol... dont understand that one... well all i know is that i used 3 512MB chips once before and my comp ran so much better, so why not upgrade to 2gbs..... i meen they dont make 4 slots if its not gonna work..
then why spend the extra money to manufacture 4 DDR slots? so if what ur saying is true, then what should i do with my current 1 gb of ram? throw it out? nobodies gonna want it.
