Personally I think there's little point in arguing against religion - you'll almost never be able to convince a religious person to completely change their views about the world as they cannot think beyond the propaganda that they have been told by the church/bible/quran/relatives etc.

One can only hope that the advances in science and technology will continue to disprove religion by giving even more evidence for evolution, the age of the earth, or even life on other planets.

well if god didn't exist, whatever, millions of people will be shattered, and many morals will be thrown out the window. people will then go on to live hedonistic lifestyles.
    overall fun. ;)

The sheer ignorance of this statement is astounding. Religion is a personal decision. I was not "forced" to become "religious," and that's been discussed to the point of irrelevance anyway. A bit of reading does wonders.

You cannot "force" somebody to join a religion.

Really? How so? How is life on another planet relevant to the creation of the Earth?

Theory of evolution is so wrong...If we all did advanced biology we would actually see that you cant evolve from an ape or w/e it is into such a complex thing like ourselves-looking at the simple plant if we studied it hard you would see that life is not just evolution or random

Religion goes hand in had with science as well, it proved there IS a god not the other way round, ima not bother arguing as it takes too long and as said no one ever actually gives it a try just disbelives to the extreme.....

Ill let feret take this :P hes good at debating

    No.
    No it didn't.

Religion may be right or wrong, Scientific theories like Evolution might be right or wrong. But in no way shape or form did Science EVER prove god to be real..(Or Not Real)

What he's pointing at is that many Christians believe that science actually points to the existence of God. No, it hasn't proven/disproven the existence of a god.

(Before I respond to these points, I'm going to assume your a Christian but if you are not them I apologise - instead please substitite the word "Christianity" with the religion you believe in)

Nobody can be "forced" to join a religion - if you don't believe what a religion teaches then you can easily not believe in it even if you live in a community where the majority of people support a religion.

However if the majority of people around you are religious (including family, community or country) then you'll be far more vulnerable to believing in religion as they will consistantly present you with a single religious view. I'm guessing this happened in your case - you were most likely brought up with someone around you that believed in Christianity, and as a result you were far more likely to follow that religion.

To demonstrate this point, I'd like to hear the reasons why you concentrate on believing in Christianity and do not belive in Islam, Judaism or any other religion. Why is Christianity correct and other religions are wrong? Do you think that if you lived in a country that was predominately an Islamic country with Islamic law and you had Islamic parents, that you would defenetly reject the beliefs of people around you and believe in Christianity instead? I would certainly like to hear from you about this.

I never said that the theory of evolution proves that there is in fact no God - it doesn't do this. However I was saying that the theory of evolution goes some lengths to disprove the theories of how the Earth was created in the Bible. For example, God is said to have created humans (Adam and Eve). However evolution shows that humans didn't just "appear" after being created by a "God", but instead evolved from other lifeforms. Since the Bible is the main book that Christianity is based upon (and the main text upon which God is assumed to exist), disproving the theroies contained in it would certinaly doubt the existance of God.

While the theories of evolution have a large amount of physical evidence to back them up (fossils, carbon dating etc), the improvements in science in the future will hopefully provide undeniable evidence for evolution. Incidently, it is no coincendence that the general increase in the number of athiests in many countries compared to hundreds of years ago has been due to advances in science giving people real physical proof that religion can be quite easily disproved.

Please ignore this point for now - I will explain my reasoning behind it at a later date when I have more time. For now please answer the two points I have made above.

No. You're just ignorant to what disproves your beliefs. When you take biology in depth you will realize how stupid you just sounded.

You are just as ignorant for deciding to to call him "stupid" and "ignorant". It's stuff like this that gets threads closed.

Plus, if you're going to call him ignorant and stupid, you should at least attempt to disproove everything that he just said.

Evolution isn't 100% true. There are still many, many things about it that we still don't understand. And maybe we didn't evolve from apes. Maybe we did come from God. try and see it from a different point of view rather than insult.

I never said it was 100% right. Read before you try responding. He said it was all wrong. Apes and man share many common genomes etc. It has been proven through science and although there is not a 100% proof that it is so. He is ignorant to all of the proof that does exist and brushes it off because it conflicts with his "god"
