yeah I read this story this morning ,not that it will be of much interest to other people outside of oz. Having said that, I wish the States and Federal govt would stop the bitching and properly recourse and fund our public hospitals so that patients and the nursing staff/doctors are not put in this awful position ...end rant

I was just thinking, it could have involved a slight racism issue because she's from Slovakia or something.

    Maybe?

I doubt that very much. It's not the first time its happened RNS, as it was reported another women had an almost identical incident just recently. It's clearly an issue of hospital resources coupled with inadequate nursing staff and doctors.

inadequate funding isn't the only problem as it seems. The staff should've handled this situation quicker and on a better response. I don't blame them for the miscarriage, however i do blame them for allowing her into a restroom when she was feeling symptoms of pain if she wasn't having the usual signs of pain. besides using the restroom during that time should be slightly monitored anyways weather it'd be a nurse waiting or the husband, speaking of which were was the husband during the time she was gone to the restroom? I mean really if my girl was pregnant and we were in the hospital im glued to her hip due to 2 reasons
    1) she'd kill me (jokingly of course >.> or maybe not
    2) to make sure she doesn't need help
    just my opinion

Hospital's are getting worse and worse.
    They make you wait forever...
My mom had kidney stones, like 3 hours waiting lol.
It took so long for them to help someone.

I have to agree with this, I remember my mother had a tumor on one of her ovaries and she was walking around with cramping pain. Finally she went to the hospital with my dad and they told her to wait while she was literally hunched over in agonizing pain, and they only helped her once she started screaming and rolling on the floor because she couldn't take it anymore O_O

Yea, I had a friend who we brought to the hospital...thinking he had eaten something wrong...ended up being appendicitis(sp?) but it took 2 hours or so of him sitting there moaning in pain...the hospital/medical system is very effed up...at least here.

This same issue is appearing more and more in the news. The same thing here happened last year.

    Hospitals are terrible nowadays.

My mother was cursing under her breath...
Took them forever. She was throwing up, my sister had to go up and down hallways to find someone to help her.
Was @ hospital till about 5 in the morning, then we went home while mom stayed overnight.

I have personally visited Australia before, and loved it. I promised myself that one day I would live there permanently. Seeing something like this really puts a damper on things though. Doctors and Nurses are so passive when it comes to the sick and injured nowadays, that our health care system falters because of it. It's a sad day when something like this occurs. :(
