So i've just installed a fresh version of vista after a particulally persistant varient of zlob, anyway, install went fine until I tried to connect to the internet, I use a belkin G+ MIMO usb adapter, drivers installed fine vista gave me the all ok message about 10 seconds later I get the error "The device failed to start". Back into xp I did a bit of googling found a few possible fixes including a ms hotfix, all of them gave no fix, installed chipset drivers with no luck, then I noticed my external HDD wasnt showing in explorer either so I swithed it off and back on, it gave the usual power up noises followed by vista's installing drivers message, this took much longer than it did under xp so i gave the install icon a click, and for some reason, the name of the hdd showed up as "unknown device", same in device manager. a few seconds later I got a "driver upto date" message in vista followed by the sound of my external spinning down. I looked in the device manager, the hdd was still there under unknown usb device but with a code 45, device is not present. Thinking it may have been a bad install I reinstalled vista but still no luck for both problems. Both devices worked fine under the old install and still do under xp. Any ideas cause this is really bugging me now.
