for those of you that don't know what happen, READ THE FIRST PAGE OF THIS THREAD! Before you jump the gun and take a guess at what happen.
I read this on another forum, not sure if it's legit or not. I'm pretty sure the guy quoted attends VT, he didn't just decide to tell all of his clanmates that he attended VT today, he's said it since he joined his clan a year or so ago.
my god..... i just woke up and this was everywere. i mean even ESPN had a story on this. 20+ dead.... thats so sad. VT was one of the most "peaceful" schools in the US, its kinda sad that this happend at such a good school...
Very unfortunate event. We can only pray for the families of the victims. They have not identified the gunman yet, because he shot himself in the head, and had no I.D. on his body. They also reported there had been 2 bomb threats last week at VT, my high school had a chainof about 6 bomb threats over a two week period earlier this year. They are no joke either.
Yea that was crazy my football coach told me today in the weight room, my heat goes out to the families..
I didnt read all the above posts by the way, just want to state my opinion and didnt have time to read what everyone else said. Ok well I heard about this right when I got in my car after my school because they were broadcasting the news conference. I couldnt believe that this had happened, I mean this is worse than Colombine. This ties in so well with mme this year in high school because we have to do this huge year long project where we pick a world problem, mine being youth violence, and then research it, do community service hours towards it, right a paper, and a bunch of other stuff to try and help solve it. This the recent news story that connected with my liffe the most. This really hit home because of this project and now I know just how bad of a world problem this is.
After reading this entire thread I must say that some people are just pathetic. There is always someone who says 'who cares'. And that's pitiful.
Yea just heard about it on the news. Thats alot of lives taken from just one crazy person. Especially at a ----in school. They also have a great basketball team VT does.
Just found out my friend is ok. He was escorted off campus, and his cell phone had to be left in his room. Again, my condolences goes out to the families involved.
Apparantly the gunman was asian too. Oh man. I saw an amateur video of the gunshots on the news, Think Halo 2 with 75+ people and in real life. Condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
People are simply insensitive and need to realize the world going around them. I hear stories even in Columbine, bullying and over social abuse still rages on, almost as if those kids killed died for nothing. America, will forget this even in a matter of a year, we'll all have our eyes on movies, celebrities, and the latest and greatest stories elsewhere. However, the people who do care, start to overly secure their schools, where a single word can be used against them, and charged against them. Where is the fine line, how do you prevent from these things from happening without destroying the feeling of a safe and secure environment? Even if gun control was installed, majority of criminals who use guns for their crimes, often purchase them through the black market, illegally, so it wouldn't severely limit an individual's access to weapons. Monitor the students? Put a population under surveillance? Hell, have security guards at every major facility? The mentally ill and the socially abused are the only people that come to mind when I think of people who would do this kind of thing, and they've been pushed to the limit, ignored by the people around them, and developed into something hateful and ugly. We need some sort of a stronger outreach program for the depressed, abused, and mentally ill, government funded programs. (Almost like a track record examining all fronts, not only simply to prevent future murderers, but also to relieve contempt in them.) We have billions of dollars on so much worthless ----, why not make of it something useful? But then again, you may argue there are plenty of options out there maybe these people could have been gone to by themselves, IE, therapy, counseling, but I think if as a society we start ------ing opening our eyes around us, start treating ourselves better, and punish those who don't.
Poor people, my heat goes down too all the people who have relatives that were killed in this terrible incedint today.
