8800GT is pretty much the only viable option for a gaming card at the moment. Other than that, you could get an 8800GTS 512mb, which has even more power, but at slightly less bang/buck.

If you hav ethe money to get it... Get it; its the best you can get. (Minus the 88000 GTX 768 MB)

If you can wait a few months, they have their 9000 series coming out, so you might be able to get the 8800's a little cheaper.

Here are some that I think are good if you got money to burn...

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814121217
HD 3870...it is cool but not the best ..

    Overclocked GTX 8800

Here is what Xlink showed me and i will show you

(comparison of those two cards FYI)

Other than that You can go for the 8800Ultra just a bit cheaper than that 8800GTX

    and good performance...

    Choose for yourself :P

I am getting the 8800GT OC so it is really good

cards worth considering for the money in your price range

    HD3850 $150
    HD 3870 $220
    GeForce 8800GT 512mb $250
    GeForce 8800GTS 512mb $300-350

the 3870 and the 8800GT are about the same bang/$ as far as performance goes, though then3800s do run cooler and quieter if that's an issue. best bang/$ is undeniably the 3850, worst is the GTS512 but that's normal for the top end to have a premium

Anyone who recommends a GTX for anything below 1600x1200 resolution gaming is barking up the wrong tree.

8800GT is the way to go, and totally worth it. I got this EVGA GeFORCE 8800GT 512MB GDDR3, incredibly good performance. I upgraded from a 7800GT, which was certainly a decent card, but the 8800 positively blows it away, especially on newer shader-intensive games. Stock cooler, even though it is single slot with a small fan, does a decent job, and is VERY quiet on the default 29% speed. So far,so great.

Whatever you do STAY AWAY FROM ATI!

ATI is BS and everyone knows it. Although, that sounds a little hypocritical coming from an AMD fan....hmm.....

Just really don't like ATI..... sorry...haha
