Hey guys, I'm looking for a new video card... Nothing overly-expensive, would you mind posting some good cards at possibly some good values? Maybe a expensive, a not so expensive, and a cheap one?
    Thanks guys! :)

    budget

slot? PCI, AGP 1.0, AGP 2.0, AGP 3.0, PCI express?

no seriously what is your budget and your needs. If you're only playing CS 1.6 you can get by with something relatively weak if you're playing FEAR Oblivion and similar then no.

ummm really check overclockers .co.uk/.com there some of the best and cheapest prices around so just check there really and u find a card within ur range, put it in googles and read a review on it,
also nvidia better for gaming ATI for more general use

Why do people always say stuff like this?
Okay, nVidia might have the better cards now, but as xelink has posted so many times, before g80, they were like, teh suX in comparison.
ATI 2900XT supports HD playback, I think the other ones do as well, but I dunno. Also, doesn't match up to 8800GTX or GTS 640.

Nvidia doesn't work as well with Vista right now either. I have one and I can say my ATi card worked better. I bought my card on someone elses recommendation and I hate it, Nvidia 7300GS 256. So just be careful.

ati isnt for office use only, they built a lot of cards for gaming.. nvidia also has a couple line of cards for general use.. right now nvidia is better because the g8800 has better drivers that came out i think but when ati releases the rest of the cards, im sure it will go back ontop.. just like the war with amd and intel, one goes on top then loses the spot, then goes back up

    umm

no. you fail at life and/or listened to someone who was an uninformed fanboy. There's a reason why 2/3 "next gen" consoles have GPUs designed by ATI.

depends on the price range etc.

here's the approximate rank of cards by performance(I'm excluding the cards that aren't worth a damn anymore)

    nvidia 8800ultra
    nvidia 8800GTX
nvidia 8800GTS - ATi Radeon HD2900XT (indeterminate ranking here)
    ATi x1950XTX
    ATi x1950XT
    ATi x1900XTX
    ATi x1950XT
    nvidia 7900GTX - 7900GTO
    nvidia 7950GT
    nvidia 7900GT
    ATi x1950pro
    ATi x1950gt
    ATi x1900gt
    nvidia 7900GS
    x1650XT
    7600GT
    7900GS
    x1650pro
    x1600XT
    x1600pro
    7300GT

and yes ATi changed their linup a bit hence the sheer craziness and duplication which is up here.

    Merged Post:

I wouldn't say that they sucked. they were just a bit ahead. It's a pendulum. Sometimes one group is ahead fo the other.

before peopel start calling me a crazed fanboy observe the last video card purchases i've made
    ATi Radeon 9250
    nVidia GeForce 7800GT
    nVidia GeForce 6100LE(int GFX)
    nVidia GeForce 6200 pci
    nVidia GeForce 7600GT
    nVidia GeForce 8800GTS
