if you upgrade the card oen way or antoher it will be opened. as long as you dont' like spill water on it(while running, if off and disconnected from power it's harmless assuming it's allwoed to dry) it's hard to f' them up.

chances are you might have an AGP port on it. myou for sure have a PCI port.

your systems fairly old you'll be abel to play older games on it but even with a new card your CPU will be holding you back a bit. actually a lot. atleast based on all the systems configured with 1.5Ghz P4s on it.

    that sucks!

im trying to play battlefield 2142 and i have the ram, had drive space, and just about everthing else exept a video card. i made a thread earlier about my CPU speed being 1.6ghz when the game needs 1.7

again being 6.25% off on the CPU speed won't be night/day between the two it's just your CPu is still a tad on the slow side.

given your situation, i'd try saving up around $300-350(USD) and going for a cheap athlon x2+board or a cheap pentium dual core+board combo, new RAM and tossing in either a 7900GS or a x1950pro. if you have to, chances are you could even sell parts out of your system to fund such.

FYI from my understanding the BF games are relatively light on CPUs it's just they consume RAM like crazy.
