x800gto for 100 bucks on sale and try to unlock pipelines... best bang/$ I see out there at this time.
Ya ... the x800 GTO is a good bargain. I have also heard good things about the 7600GS because it outperforms the 6600GT in alot of the reviews I have read on www.firingsquad.com and many other websites. They also have an x800 GTO with 512mb for $111 after rebate on newegg. If you unlock the pipes on that and overclock it ... it would be like having an x800 XT PE with 512mb of memory. 7600 GS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....=&Go.x=0&Go.y=0 512mb x800 GTO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....800+gto&Ntk=all hope this helps.
I have AGP8x would this one be good though? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...82E16814102608R
No ... because it's refurbished. Try to get one that says Retail. What is your budget ... like something under $200? Also ... how many watts is your power supply ... most of these cards recommend a 300-watt power supply or more.
I almost made the bad mistake of doing that. I only had a 250 watt power supply when I was going to buy my graphics card. Luckily I checked it because this was a while ago (like a year) ... when I really wanted a graphics card and for some reason ... I really wanted a 9800 XT But I hardly knew anything about computers back then. If its not enough ... your computer will just crash.
yeah, I just bought the eVGA GeForce 6600GT. I checked and I only have 250 so I also plan on buying a new power supply too
unlikely that it would blow up. it might fry, but not blow up. Still a possibility though if a capacitor is F'ed up.
