so i was just planning to upgrade my pc, cuz it currently suks my current specs are ancient practically so there like this its emac processors: AMD athlon xp 1600 RAM: 256 mb Hard drive: 40gb Mother Board Bus Speed 266 MHz I know its old, but it was cheap because i really didnt need it for anything else except doing some spreadsheets and office work, but now i just want something extra added on to it, instead of wasting alot of money so i am planning to get these http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...5&sku=M450-2309 http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...p?EdpNo=2207238 http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...6&Sku=T555-5006 and now i just want to know are these good products to buy for my pc, and could this change it for better and also if u have any other suggestions of products that are better than these please go ahead and post away and my price range is between $400 and if u can, can u please find it on tiger direct...or if u know any other canadian parts site that has better pricing, that would be appricated plz and thank you
these are my configurations AMD 3600+ 2 x 512mb DDR 160 GB HDD 256 nVidia game card These are really a nice one i have.... if possible try getting this...
ignore him. as far as I know, pretty much every x2 3600+ in the retail market is AM2 based, and as such requires DDR2 NOT DDR. Also the fact that he refered to a video card by the quantity of vRAM as opposed to it' model number or GPU shows ignorance. an FX 5700 could have had 256mb vRAM, but it would be utterly destroyed by a 256mb Radeon x1900XT or 7900GT for the most aprt, dont' worry abotu vRAM buy the card by the GPU alone and typically "enough" VRAM is included.
sorry mate its not AMD 3600+ its AMD3000+ and i use DDR only... also so far no problmes in my PC still... motherboard is Gigabyte K8Triton (it supports AMD processors)
so what would typically the card i should buy, since i got confused at the part where u talk about vRAM and GPU, because when it comes down to a graphic cards i am like a noob
the basic diea behind a GFX card is for the GPU(graphics processing unit) to process game data for out put. typically data is loaded to the vRAM(video RAM) and then transfered to the GPU. The faster it can be transfered, the faster the GPU can do work on it. when looking at GFX cards, the two main components to look at are the GPU and the vRAM. GPU - how many functional units it has, it's clock speed, it's arhitecture. vRAM - capacity, speed, latency, bus width. this is the best bang/$ GFX cards you can get while being close to budget http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...&Tab=2&NoMapp=0
So, are you going to get a video card, or just stick with integrated graphics? if you don't do any gaming, you probably don't need a video card.
thnx for that, if u dont mind, can u just find me a good RAM and a proccer, and can i use like new proccer with my old mother board without having problems and if u can do that for me that will be appreciated iam getting a video card too, since it will be pretty good to have for games i might play on my pc
you'de need a new motherboard, no "modern CPU" works with Socket A boards... those came out in what, 2000? if you live near a Fry's electronics then they sometimes have c2d e4300+board combos for like 150USD as for a canadian system... AMD semrpon 3000+ $70 http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...7092&CatId=2353 board $80 http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...5167&CatId=2320 RAM 1GB(2*512mb) RAM $100 http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...8745&CatId=2261 Video card http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...acture=SAPPHIRE if you could spend more, I could get you some stuff that's a fair amount better, but 400CAD is hard to do when all canadian supplier assrape you w/ pricing. I'm still 30$ over too. or rather... all non-American retailers atleast, consumer electronics are fairly cheap inthe US because of the intense comercial competition.
if you live in toronto, or the gta, don't buy from tigerdirect. it's so much more expensive. try canadacomputers.com
forgot about that site, i'd heard good things about them... x2 3600+ http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=Sh...046&cid=CPU.907 RAM http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?d...868&cid=RAM.475 board http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...5167&CatId=2320 GFX card http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...acture=SAPPHIRE
Canadacomputers.com cbit.com ncix.com WAY cheaper than TD. Also, if you're going to 'upgrade' it with that stuff, you're better off just building a new one, considering the case will likely be custom, not standard ATX/mATX.
