How about we run 1 massive query to remove 2/3 of everyone credits (equally, across all accounts) and drop the credit amount to 1.165 million-ish points. Then disable posting for credits until the majority of this site learns something about economics?

I am actually for this, and believe it or not, I believe I am the second richest person on the site behind EBK (no, all my credits are obviously not on this account, but between quite a few boughten / made accounts) and I would be perfectly content with this. I am also all for taxing all credit transactions. Everyone else in the real world takes their % for themselves (paypal, sales tax, etc. etc.), why not GR? Credits can't be traded on GR any other way, so you won't find a loophole.

dementia's idea would work too. I'm for it more than I am for doubling the creds per post.

the idea is to increase the worth of each post in the forum to the amount it can buy

    Merged Post:

how so? in theory it would triple the value of the cred almost isntantly.

thats what we are trying to achieve to make credits more valuable.

right now the original plan for 200 for $1 in blown out its now like 600 credits to $1.

GR= not real world, so if GR was to reflect the "real" world, throw the "Bank ON" switch.

You benefit either way. If the credits were reduced, you'd still have the same amount of credits per USD ratio (in theory).
If a bank were to be put in place, I think there'd be a little too much greedy people, putting all their savings into it, and just having it sit there, constantly gaining (assuming there is interest, like the real world)

Bank on makes practically no difference except brings more credits into the system over time. The credits are very visible by who has the most credits in their bank account, and people are still extremely open to being hacked that way, keeping the bank off is better than putting it on, if the intention is to make the value of credits actually go up. I personally have a lot at stake on my account. I am a global, I am a fairly well respected member, and I have 80,000 ish credits, I have placed them on numerous alt accounts instead of centralizing them in 1 location, and that is the only reason, in my mind, to have an alternate bank account.

The bank system is honesty no different than the on-hand credit system, with the exception you make money rather than let it idle.

true Dem, though the taxes and all that good stuff will balance things back out with the bank, so there's no need for taxing, but charges/fees , Yes :D

Last I remembered there we no taxes, simply inflation caused by the bank, there may be slight tax, but the overall outcome of it was an increase in credits. Again, this was what... over a year ago atleast that the bank was taken down, so my memory may be a bit foggy.

    taxing credit transactions sounds good.

charging for the use of market place (except for requests) sounds good as well. but some, like myself, who don't have a guarantee buy, risk more. if you are going to implement this, charge first, then if the item is not sold, refund the money.

i think removing a certain amount of creds from member's accounts is a drastic step. should be taken only as a last resort

In the course of the year and a few months you have been here, credit ratios have nearly tripled their origional rate when you registered, I think a little bit of preemptive action should occur before things really get to the point of no return so to speak. Now would seem to be the time to act towards 'drastic' measures.

i was hibernating last year. only been on for these past couple of days. didn't know it has become this bad.

but when you remove creds from member's accounts, some of these members will increase the prices of their items. if this step is taken, items sold by member's should be reduced by 2/3 as well

....wait, does it solve the problem if items sell at 2/3 less?

i would complain when you have 300 credits artic.

if 2/3rds are removed you lose 100 credits.

    EBK would lose 66000 credits

tax on transactions is reasonable but will take a while for the credits to increase there value. again with turning off posting credits it would take a while.

but this proposition of Dementias is quick immediate and effective therefore i see it as a great option.
