For those that are unware of what trusted computing is, feel free to check out the video here or go to the site here. Anyways, in summary, trusted computing can be defined as a crtieria that a good percentage of modern-day technology follows by using a standard chip known as a TPM or Fritz chip. This, later, developed into things like motherboards, graphic cards, harddrives, and the works. Although this software is meant for protection, it limits several things, some of the bigger losses being: - Big companies losing access to technology for work - Loss of free speech over the internet - Restrictions in the use of hardware and upgrades Personally, I feel that this should not occur and that trusted computing needs to be toned down some bit in order to make the international web market safe but efficiently functional. How do you, the members of GamerRenders, feel about this issue?
This should be in the Computing section. But as for the issue, I think it's dumb. There's always gonna be problems with computers. This won't help anything. And just like it's already done, it will only help cause more drama.
I've read about it and when ever I get a date it will come to every pc I will buy the latest pc and stick with it. I do NOT want to run anything like that!! :censored:
Oh, then may an admin please move this? I wasnt sure if the comp section was for issues resolving around problems software and stuff and not computer contreversy.
Well, the first thing I notice is that the linked page is typed by idiots. You'd think after 3 years or so they'd have an about page that doesn't look like it's typed by a 6th grader. Second, if "Compaq, HP, IBM, Intel and Microsoft" and 200 or so more high profile companies have approved of this measure, then it's probably fine. Quite frankly the people working for those companies are smarter than you, and they know what they're doing.
I didn't say I don't think they know what they are doing. I was just trying to say this was an interesting issue and that to more larger corporations, not entirely myself or you, it could be dangerous. Then again, thanks for your input, despite that I can't say I entirely agree with it in the area of me not trusting them.
Ive heard stories about Dell installing Keyloggers into laptops and such! i think i read about it on hackaday
