lol yeah i dont see Ayers rock as an aussie icon... lol dont make me list the reasons i went to Fraser island on my Christmas holidays its nice. but if you are going i recommend flying over.. getting accommodation and not camping. It is only accessable by 4WD and i presume ur not going to buy or hire on if you have a budget. However you are a photographer and fraser island is a brilliant place for photography. just Google it. You will find a huge bunch of photo's on the shipwreck and the crystal clear lakes. But DO NOT go on a guided tour >.> my mum and dad went on one and left us at the campsite... it was horrible they said they spent 6 hours on a packed noisy bus and visited 3 places over the whole day.
I doubt I will have money for a guided tour Australia is going to be one of the last places I visit, my only route change will be from Canada to Europe and Europe into Asia. Not sure exactly what I am doing there yet.
As a Norwegian citizen myself, I would highly suggest spending as much time as you can in Scandinavia and avoiding Russia as much as you can
All of the capitals of Scandinavia are great. I'm not too familiar with Copenhagen, but I can tell you that Stockholm is overrated and Reykjavik is very expensive. Oslo is perfect (I might be bias), and Helsinki is very underrated. Be sure to check out Bergen in Norway as well.
Be careful in any African countries. It's kind of dangerous in shady areas. Oh and lots of people jip you if you're a tourist. But I guess that goes for any country right?
For some reason I don't think this needed to be said - be careful in shady areas of third world countries! But seriously though, Mexico is terrible - they'll jip you so bad once they see you're American.
Funny, I plan on traveling as well. But here's the catch - my Dad is a supervisor at Air Canada here in Toronto, so I can fly anywhere in the world for appx 2.3% of the price. I've asked my Dad, and instead of a $4000 trip to Australia and back, it would cost me $89. And yes, I brag about this just about every day. I've planned a trip to Australia, back, Greece, back, Paris, back, and finally, Wales and back and it will cost me less than $500 for the flights. Oh, and he gets deals on all hotels near airports as well, so I'll be traveling cheap!
See my intention is to see the world, not fly over it. It may cost me five digits in the end for all the necessary air travel, but that doesn't matter.
