No console is perfect. Both have some advantages and some disadvantages.

The PS3 might probably have slightly better specs because it releases much later than the Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 has Xbox Live, though. PS3 has no official online plan. Xbox 360 games would pwn PS3 games just because of online capability.

PS3 won't have an official harddrive, as well, and the ones you'd be able to buy won't be able to store game data. It would still rely on Memory Cards.

So, in the end, it just depends on what you care more about.
The console specs or the game quality.

    P.S. PS3 probably won't have Blu-Ray.

probalby WONT have blu-ray ? Thats like sony's biggest marking strategy EVER and the Ps3 WONT have it ? Sony does have online services, and it is official.. you just don't HAVE to pay to play. It will have harddrives for game save storage, and they wont be some unofficial 3th party ----. Of course it has slightly better specs.. I mean, 3 - 4 months after the 360 is worldwide released (available ?).. We will all be old geezers by the time it's finally here =).

But putting that aside I am now just going to asume the Xbox 360 uses normal CD's for games, has a HD that can't store save files and is made out of recycled cardboard boxes.

Don't know where you got YOUR side of the info from, Parusa, but as I know it the PS3 won't have an official harddrive and those that are 3rd party ones won't be able to store game data, only media.
And it DOESN'T have an online plan, whatsoever, free or not free.

It seems that you're just saying that cause you just personally dislike Xbox.
I think that you're just fed a bunch of rumors by other hopeful PS2 fanboys who come up with these rumors just to piss of Xbox fans.

EDIT: btw, i don't think we should be arguing about this, it's everyone's own opinion on what is better.

    Got this from another forum:

IBM recently released a white paper showing real results on what the cell processor can really put out:

    http://www-128.ibm.com/developerwor...llperf/?ca=drs-

At this year's E3 (or thereabouts) Sony proclaimed that their processor could achieve 200GFLOPS! However, according to IBM's white paper, only 155.5 GFLOPS was actually achieved (Table 4). BUT, IBM's tests used all 8 SPEs. The PS3 will only use 7 SPE's, due to manufacturing yield issues.

The efficiency of the Cell is 75.9% (Table 4), with of a theoretical peak of 201GFLOPs (Figure 5)--running 8 SPEs at 25.12GFLOPS apiece (Table 2). Similarly, the theoretical peak for the PS3's processor will be 176GFLOPS, using 7 SPEs at 25.12GFLOPS apiece. Assuming the same 75.9% effieciency, we could easily interpolate the PS3's Cell to be capable of 133.6GFLOPS.

The take home message is that with the PS3 being cabable of 133.6 GFLOPS and the Xbox 360 being capable of 115.2 GFLOPS, the PS3 is not nearly as far ahead of the Xbox 360 as we were lead to believe. All in all, we should expect relatively similar power coming from both consoles, processor power and ease of programming all considered.

His take: now since that implies that the Cell isn't nearly as powerful as Sony Claimed, and they're operating with 1 less SPE, well I guess you could say that this means the PS3 won't be as powerful they claimed, that and it has a weaker GPU than the 360 (The PS3 RSX GPU is basically a 7800GTX shrunk to a 90nm process, so nothing new features or architecture-wise).

    kthxbye

I think PS3 will be technologically superior to Xbox 360 from all the specs I've seen from both systems, but I don't care.. I'm getting 360 for Live, and that's it

I wonder if the problem of the shortage that 360 is having will be the same with PS3... I hope Sony learns from MS's mistake and makes sure to have enough systems around for everyone that wants one

My 360 is fine, u just got to keep it well ventilated. People treat it like a console rather than a computer, it needs space. Only 5% of 360 consoles are defective, and with all console launches there is always problems, look at ps2... My first 2 ps2's were defective, and my 1st xbox had to be sent to ms. It happends.

Well, Ps2 has online features. I don't see a reason to just stop that. Sony even stated they were not going to use a unified online service (wich means they do have one) It would be stupid to have a harddrive wich is not used in any way for games and still having memorycard systems. Sony even has a handheld, using sticks for both media and save files. What I'm saying is kinda based on asumsions.. sumptions.. (crhist how do you spell that ?) But in any case they are the most logical and realistic course of action sony could take.

Too many threads like this... its pointless until the PS3 comes out, so lets stop talking about it.
