I am planning on watching it. Looks like its going to be another good movie within the Lord of the Rings series. I read the book but for some reason, never really got into it.

I saw it. I liked it, but I feel like the other ones will be more entertaining/epic.

Yes! Initially there were only going to be 2 movies, but they had so much material shot for the hobbit they decided to split it into 3 movies and add some stuff from the silmarillion/appendixes for the third movie.
Second movie will be released winter 2013 (early december IIRC) and the third will be 6 months after that.

    Somebody's done his homework :p
Curious as to how they'll fill it though. Read the book and honestly didn't think they could pour out 3 films from it. But hey, Peter Jackson has suprised me before :)

true that, I'm also curious, book isn't that big especially if you look at how much of it is in the first movie. I'm expecting a lot of material of the time between the hobbit and lotr to fill up the third movie (I know orlando bloom was called back to play legolas so might see something about the elves cleaning up the forest and the old fortress, also expecting to see the party of dwarves that went out to recolonize Moria)

Just went to see it. Good movie but didn't wow me. Seemed more like a fourth lotr, giving a constant feeling of "been there, done that"
