it was made by what we commonly dub "aliens" as part of an intergalactic stepping stone system to Earth in order to assist in seeding operations. the next one out is on Pluto and then there are a few more past the Kuiper belt. it's really nothing to worry about in and of itself. At least not any more. the "damage" was done several millennia ago and we've already endured the worst of it and any further implications of the matter are largely vestigial.
