----------------------------- || How to Donate,<span style=\'color:#82de0f\'> et al ||</span></span> ----------------------------- This is simply a blanket section, covering a number of areas such as the History behind the FREE, the Priceguide for Advertising, How to Purchase PR to Store-items and How to Donate as well as others. If anyone can think of anything to add to this section, or simply have questions about the Shop, please message Chakka (not the Shop account). ----------------------------- || The History of the FREE || The Big Shop of FREE was begun for two reasons. Primarily, I was bored and trying anything to avoid revising for Winter exams. But it had been at the back of my mind for some time that, although the Resource section was great, there was nowhere to go that gave a blanket coverage of all areas of GFX apart from paid Stores and Shops. The deciding factor was poverty. At the time, GameRenders was trying to solve the credit becoming déválued and so they were extremely hard to come by; as such, these paid stores were not an option for me, or most other newbies that would actually benefit the most from their wares. So, in defiance I set up a rival shop, one that fulfilled the "everything in one place" idea but that was also accessible for all. Thus, the Big Shop of FREE was born, on the 3rd December 2006. Originally it grew totally from donated items, mainly given PR only, with the first bought tag (Empty Pirate) appearing nearly a month later. Of course once credits-for-posts were back, and people began buying tutorials and PR resources again, the funds began to grow and more bought items appeared. With more items, the Shop attracted more customers and received more bumps; as such more people began donating items, and the first tutorials were given out. However, the success was the downfall; I was receiving FR tags, credit donations and reputation on a daily basis, and struggled to keep up with exams upon me and a slow internet connection for downloads/uploads. It also brought about a veritable forest of copy-cat stores all boasting free resources. In the end there were too many, and after just a week or so no one was bumping the topic; with so many others to choose from, they would visit once, take and leave. Then life as a student began to take its toll, and I left GR for some time, occasionally coming on to bump up the Shop. It was only around May 2007 that I got back into the swing, with new items appearing once more. And now? Well, June 3rd was the half-year Anniversary for the Store, and to celebrate nearly 8k creds were spent, a new, improved topic created and, combined with the new Download system, the Shop was re-born! Yay! || Why there is a Big Shop of FREE account || The account was created for a few purposes. The primary purpose was so that all the items from the Shop could be uploaded to the Download system in such a way that meant it was instantly recognisable they came from here. Secondly, for special offers and events the account could be used as a more prófessional look. Finally, it makes it easier to buy and receive donations. It allows people to see that their donation has gone into the Shop and not my own pocket, and allows those I am buying from to see where their GFX is going in an attempt to get better deals and maximise my ability to aid the community. || Why I made the change from private hosting to using the GR Download system || This is simple; it saves me time and assures that, even if I have to leave GR, the tags and resources from the Shop are always accessible for new members in the Download system even when the topic has expired. I thought for a while of scrapping the topic and just using the Download system, but it did seem that this would defy one of the original purposes I had in mind for the Store: to be a singular place members could come to for every aspect of GFX design resources. Only using the Download system means the resources spread out and many would be lost beneath everyone else's. || How you can help || The Big Shop of FREE was made for the GR community; but I also look to the community to keep the Shop alive and growing. If you would like to help this effort in any way, first of all Thank You! The most obvious way to help would be to donate (see next section) either credits or resources, but I understand not everyone can or is willing to. Fair enough. But you can also help by bumping this thread whenever possible, so as many people can see it; I cannot be online 24/7, nor am I allowed to just keep it bumped to the top. If you download something, leave a quick post saying thank you, or even a Testimonial which are always fantastic to receive. If you have something nice to say about the Store, do NOT PM me...post it here! You can even trawl through the topics and find good deals on cheap tags/resources; if you do find any you think would really be useful, don't hesitate to PM me a link. Heck, you can even ask for them to be put on hold until I come online! Finally, if I do happen by your sale or auction, and take a fancy to something I see, I do hope you keep in mind that anything I purchase comes straight here (once tidied up etc.) so be kind when you price resources. || How to Donate to the Shop || There are two ways to Donate to the Shop; either donate credits or resources. The former is often the most useful, as multiple donations can then be compiled and used to purchase some really great items, but resources are equally valued. If you can spare some credits, and would like to donate, it is best to donate to this account (The Big Shop of FREE) as then it is easy for me to see what credits I have that I have earned and I can spend how I like, and what I have that is donated and must be used for the Shop (although most of my credits come here anyway). If you do donate, it can be useful to also leave a post here saying you have, as Chakka is my main account and I don't always log on to the other. If you don't have any credits itching to leave your pockets, but a hard drive of tags etc. you no longer want, then please donate those as well. Resources mean anything, from tags to LP's, fractals to c4d's, even brush or pattern packs. I must stress though that ALL RESOURCES DONATED MUST BE GIVEN FOR FR TO ME! The only resource exempt is tutorials, although I do require the rights to sell PR to tutorials at me own discretion (why? look below). To donate, just upload whatever it is, send me a pm on the Chakka account or post the link here, and I'll try and get it in the shop ASAP. That again, if you would like to donate resources (other than tuts) it can only be FR from now on. If you donate something, I will presume this is the case, please be warned! || The reasons why I only accept FR resources || The full reasons are long and I won't bore you with them; suffice to say I've had an incident in the past with donated items that I don't want to repeat, and the only way to prevent that is to only accept resources I have full ownership of. I am reasonable though, lol. When I say FR, I expect the donator to retain WR, classing rights etc. and the creator to retain CR (if they are not the same person); however they cannot sell PR to the resource or re-sell in any way. If a resource has already been given PR to other websites, then they keep PR, that doesn't bother me. Tutorials are slightly different and so I will accept donations of PR to tutorials; however that PR can never be removed (so you cannot request it taken down from the Shop, unless a very good reason is given) and I claim the right upon donation to sell the tutorial for PR to anyone I wish (again, unless a good reason is given as to why not). This FR/PR rule also aids the Shop's funds, as it allows me to sell any items in the Shop for PR/WR at any time, without having to seek permission or say "no sorry, don't have that tag FR, only PR" etc. which I've also been annoyed with in the past. || Buying PR/WR to any Store-items || In the past I have often relied on selling items in the Store PR/WR to boost funds, and so I'm making this a full feature. Any items can be bought PR; WR is negotiable on all tags and vertical tags, nothing else. Prices will vary depending on how much you buy, whether you have helped the Store in the past and many other variables so there is no set price guide. However, on a rough scale, tags/vertical tags are 50credits, LP's 150credits, Packs 200-500credits (depending on contents and size). Tutorials cannot be sold, however if large enough bulk buys are achieved I may throw in PR to some of these as well. If you are interested in buying either, please pm me with the names of those items wanted and your price offer. Thanks. || Purchasing Advertising Space || In the first post of this topic, I have set aside an area in which anyone can buy space to place an advert for their own Shop or topic on GR. Furthermore, if you want to advertise a website or forum, sig space in both my accounts is for sale. Pricing is thus:In Topic: 1 Month - 50credits 3 Months - 125 credits 6 Months - 200 credits 1 Year - 300 credits Permanent - 1,000 credits Sig Space: 1 Week - 50credits 1 Month - 100 credits 3 Months - 250 creditsIf you purchase In Topic advertising, you are buying space for 100 words and a small image (100px*100px maximum) or one banner (300px*130px maximum) which will be displayed in the top post of this topic for the set time. Sig Space advertising can either be one small image (I'll be the judge of small) and no more than 50 words, or one banner (same size as In Topic). It is worth mentioning that if you provide a similar FREE service, whether it be a large resource collection or another Free Store, the cost of advertising is greatly reduced (right down to 0credits) as long as the favour is repaid. If you are interesting in buying space for advertising, please contact me over PM. || About the Rights of Store-Items || Hopefully it is clear that all Store items are given out LR only, apart from resource packs which also come with UR. However, I do get a few requests every now and then from people offering to label items, or wanting to make a tutorial from something in the Store. My answer is always the same; of course you can! I will not charge anyone if they want to take an unlabelled .psd and label it, or take an item and tutorialise it, and of course if you do this you will be credited. But just as I do not charge, nor do I expect to be charged. Once I was contacted by someone who had labelled every .psd in the shop. "Great" I thought, but then they demanded 1k credits...well, to them I say "GTFO!". If you do label something then I must make it clear that this gives you absolutely no rights over that item. Tutorials are slightly different; if you make a tut of a Store item, the item remains FR to myself, but the tutorial is split 50-50. I expect it to be a "donation" to the Shop, and so will be posted here and in the Tut Section like all other donated tutorials. I also expect the right to sell PR to the tutorial, however likewise you can also give out the tutorial PR to who-ever you wish. So if you like a tag in the Shop and own a GFX site, feel free to make a tutorial and post it on your site, but you will not get PR to the tag and the tut will appear her as well. Finally though, I will say that if anyone ever does either of these charities for the Shop, of course you will be credited and of course you will be heavily thanked. || The truth of the "unknown artist" || I get the occasional message asking why some tags have "unknown" put next to "Tag Made By:" although the answer if a very simple one. I receive/buy a lot of tags, and it does take time to get them into the Store. In between getting them and loading them onto the Shop front, I can forget exactly who made it. So, if you see any item with "unknown" as the creator, and you recognise it or made it yourself, please PM me the actual maker so I can get it sorted out. Thanks. || Reason why that item you donated last week isn't up yet || Another frequent question. I get given a donation, say thanks, every thing's great. Then a day later I get an abusive PM saying "You just stole that item I gave you, it isn't in your Shop, blahblahblah". In short, the process of getting a donation and getting it up takes time. To begin with I need to have the time to read your PM, reply and download, and as we all don't live in the same timezones and I mainly come here late at night, I'm often not fit of mind enough to work on a new item right then. Even if I do have time, I need to boot Photoshop and check through the .psd or resource to make sure I know exactly what is there, clean out any unwanted layers, maybe label it and count all layers/items so I can give a detailed description. I then need to create the .png and .rar files, upload them (which takes time as GR Staff need to check it as well) and finally edit the store so it appears here. So, if I buy your tag or you send me a donation, give me at least 48hours to get it up, if not longer. || This should be in the Resource Section || I get that one a lot. "Hey, this is really cool and all, but don't you think it should be in the Resource Section?". The answer simply, is yes and no. Yes, the shop contains a lot of resources, released for <span style=\'color:#55e6e4\'>FREE, like the resource section, and so in that respect it should maybe be moved. But the no is far stronger. To begin with, there are many forms of resources here, from tuts to packs, and these would need to be split into separate areas of the forum if it was moved from this one topic. There's the problem that a number of factors behind the creation of the Shop (resources all in one place, direct competition to the large, paid Resource Shops) only work when it IS a Shop. It can also be argued that, as all items here can be sold PR, this is as much a PR Store as anything else. Finally, there is the name. But I have taken on board that, for instance, not everyone looking for a Tutorial would come to this section of the forum, and so the Shop will expand shortly so that there are topics in the Tutorial and Resource Section with direct links to certain downloads and to this topic. This doubles as a means of spreading the word about the Shop, and hopefully increasing donations by doing so. So, no, thanks, the Shop can stay where it is.

Well, Welcome to the *Nu 'n' Improved* Big Shop of FREE! It's taken nearly a week to put together, but finally it's done! So, what's different? And where are those hundreds of tags/resources I've been buying up over the last month? Well, the first answer is simple: it's much more organised, with room for 300tags, 60Lp's, 50tutorials, and 50Resource Packs, if not more! Everything shown is now available to buy PR too, so it's a lot easier for everyone as lots of people have wanted PR to some resources in the past! Oh, and all downloads of tags are now stored in the GR Download System, for ease of use all round. As for all those resources, they're coming...slowly. Soon a post will be made in Offers and Requests outlining the full reasons...so be patient! Needless to say, if all goes well I hope to have well over 100 items in here within the next few weeks! Why am I doing all this suddenly? In short, it was the half-year anniversary for the Shop on the 3rd of June, so it's a belated Birthday event sort of, anyway Finally, thankyou to everyone that has ever helped with this Shop, in any way at all!
