Anyone else heard about the terrorist plot that was foiled in Toronto. LINK : http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/americas/06/03/canada.terror/ I read in the paper that they were planning on invading parliment (Where all those goverment leaders chill) and taking people as hostage. They then planned on taking over CBC ( Canadian Broadcastign Television) and displaying live executions nationwide. They also planned on destroying the C.N Tower. Congrats to Toronto Police services for stopping, what could have been a very ugly situation. Discuss.
ya i heard about that cuz i live in richmond hill, 15mins north of toronto, now apparently they are having much much tighter security on the boardwalk from the us to canada and vice versa so basically everyone needs a passport to walk over to Cananda or the US, and i heard on the news that only 20% of all americans actually have passports, but it shudent cost much to buy one
Ya, I live an hour and change out of TO and I am happy that our municipal, provinical and federal law services were able to work together to bring down this threat. Apparently CSIS had been tracking these guys for 5 years and had replaced a shipment of some nitrogen compound with a harmless substitute so they couldn't amke active bombs. They planned to take over parliament and hold the government hostage, and one of them said he personally wanted ot behead the Prime Minister. Good thing they are locked up now, I am very proud, a a Canadian, that we can get these guys before they do any damage. Also, any Americans reading this, give your government and swift kick in the nuts and Fox news a back hand across th face. I was watching Fox news the other say and it was all about how Canada is a 'safe-haven' for terrorists and that we should stop being so diverse in our culture and embrace they're western culture(if you can call what the states has a culture). US government, stop trying to assimilate the planet into your 'culture' and Fox news.....you should have a day where you actually report the truth. oops....Sorry I kinda rambled there My bad. What I don't understand is why would they be inspired to hurt Canadians. They just sit up there and play hockey You'd think they would be after US.
lol, In case you missed that little incident called '9/11' a few years back they are after the US. And they were not in league with Al Quaeda, they were Muslim Canadian Citizens who had been training for several years to do this kind of thing because they are against the Canadian presence in Afghanastan(sp?) and they were going to go through on it because of our governments recent descision to extend our presence. Also, the leader of the group used to preach to Muslims who visited to Mosque he worked in that Canadian troops were only there to rape Muslim women. Ya, like we went into another country to have involuntary sex with women*cough*.
