I'll help you out if you want, for free though... Don't see the point of paying for something like that, as it's not really a matter of technique like sigs, it's more knowing how to do the simple things, and making it look good together.

    That would be great.

What i dont understand is, what needs to be on seperate layers? what canvas size and what are the constraints of a design?

    Merged Post:

"I would if I felt like I could, but you would not get your money worth (damn my lack of knowledge I really need some creds lol ). In honesty I have only ever finished one of my designs, the portfolio that's still floating around in this section a few threads down. Currently I'm working on an image hosting site layout which isn't going too well

Sizing is the number one problem I have, I never know how large things should be, but find some examples (DA is good, and Audigex on GR does a lot if you can track him down) and just see roughly what sizes they use. I find, and may not be correct, but giving a linear, monotone or repeated pattern background on the very edges of any design is always good as this can be repeated or cut down to fit all screen sizes if you ever code.

Other then that all I do is browse the web, take a look at designs and try and get inspiration. Using matching colours always is a must; keep colours to a minimum, two or three is normally right. Use easy to read and well spaced fonts such as Arial, Times New Roman and Century Gothic. As for style, web design follows the trends of LP's imho, so right now a lot of modern, simplistic designs are around, with some vector work and pen tooling going on, all very "clean" and basic. Tech style designs have stopped being used as they aren't as instantly user friendly and it's harder to get a really ----- look.

I find all you need is a rough idea of layout and then good knowledge of how to combine default shapes in CS2 and pen tool work to get what you have in your head onto paper. Try to start with something simple, don't go too curvy first time unless you're really used to pen tooling.

Oh, and finally, Flash actionscript is a commonly used coding language, a bit like php but with more Flash qualities. Flash sites are those ones that have a "loading bar" when you first enter them, and often have parts of the site spiral around. They also rarely use more then one page (or so it seems) just with parts of the page changing. A lot of video game sites use Flash, and actionscript is an easier to use, toned down version of this. Dr!ver and Dark Prince11 are the ones you really want to ask though

    Also thanks for [+]rep "
Im aware of actionscript, its run through activeX, which is the main cause of un-wanted adware. Thats why my active x is on manual, i chose what java hyper links i want to allow.

Im no good with pen tool, and i only got ps7 at my finger tips but i will learn fast.

Thanx for the tips and help everyone, im just going to give it a shot, i will prolly screw it up but hey, least well have somthing to laugh at for months to come.

(Quote from someone on another forum)

If you're going to start getting into web design it'd probably be best to get in the habbit of designing them "properly", even if you do just want to do the art aspect of them. It'll make it a lot easier in the future if you do ever want to use them / sell them.

If you want a rundown of basic CSS / XHTML, basically just how they work so you know what to keep in mind when desiging them just send me a PM.
