I was just wondering, what processes, as seen in the task manager, must be running to keep windows going, and which ones can I stop?

This is a good question. Well, Explorer.exe is a MUST! First of all though, I do not suggest you go through and start turning stuff off like that. The thing is, most computer companies have their own stuff and some things are named different. Well, lets say someone tried to tell you what you could run and they are going off their machine. You have an HP (Example) and they have a Dell. There would be many different things running on different ones. Some, yes, are not needed to make your machine run, but then you have things like Raids and 1394. Different companies and computers have different things on them, again, I wouldn't suggest listening to any advice from this forum as this might get you into some trouble. ;)

some of the svchosts.exe's are not necessary...explorer.exe is required if you want to see the start menu and stuff...WRSSSDK.exe isnt required..services and winlogon are required..crss and smss arent always necessary..for me at least...I need spoolsv.exe to print out stuff..otherwise it dont work...and lastly alg.exe is also mandatory.. :)
