I am swapping out a 512mb single channel module of DDR400 for 2 gigs of Dual channel DDR400(2*1GB)

I would like to know peoples opinions, I want bang for the $ on this as well as decent performance, I am hoping to keep the cost below 200, though I may go slightly over if there is good reason. I want DECENT timings, nothing godly. I don't plan on overclocking any much if at all, though this will likely be all the ram my comp ever sees(may go up to 4 gigs in 2 years if needed, but it's unlikely) I want atleast DDR400 as well, I COULD go higher.

I am considering something liek this, i wish to know if it is any good for the price and if there is better.

that g.skill is perfect. I was going to recommend ocz value but that g.skill looks better and its cheaper. So I would get that.

yeah, I looked through newegg and for the price that seemed about the best. could you tell me how much latency affects performance though? I mean I do have an Athlon 64 which is low latency, but how much performance DO I loose if I have lesser(as in worse, not lower) timings?

you wont really notice it until ocing. but when ocing with cheap ram you would use divders anyway.

a second question though of a somewhat diferent nature pertains to ram in motherboards.

I heard, that in many motherboards, that if you go past the first two DIMM slots that the ram is set out of Dual channel mode, is there anything which could prevent that, perhaps waiting for a BIOS revision or buying a certain motherboard or certain Ram?

you wont be able to run 4 sticks in dual channel.
if you ran 4 sticks it would underclock them to ddr333.
