I have a friend who is going to be getting a new computer.
he has a budget of between 1000-1500$ after tax.

he is considering dual core, and I urge him to get a computer with Raid 0.
he wants atleast a gig of PC3200 ram

he is open to either Intel or AMD

he will probably want a 64 bit OS

    he wants a DVD/CD writer

he does light gaming(WOW) he doesn't need anything "hardcore"

    he wants decent upgradeability.

Get at least a 64 meg video card, just for support. They come cheap...

Im sure he means 64MB GFX Memory not 64 bit Graphics card :D

hmm..if not a hard core gamer 64MB would be ok

ASUS or MSI motherboards with decent upgradebility options such as the ASUS A8n-SLI

FOr memory go for Corsair,OCZ or kingston :D Dont go for normal unbranded memory - You want reliable memory from these companies

For DVD/CDRW go for a dual layer one :D Sony,Samsung and NEC are some companies that have some

Dual core is expensive even tho he is not a hardcore gamer - But for games AMD should do it :D Intel = for PSing etc

AMD more reliable than ever - I got the AMD64 3500 Venice (939) works perfect ;) and with the 6600GT the games fly with pumped up power :D

    I hope it helps :)

    I don't beleive that they make 64mb PCI-e cards, only 128mb.

most of what DS said is what I told him, though the athlon X2s outperform the pentium Ds in PS and quite a few other things.

Oh, it's a pci-E connection? Then Hell have to have no gfx card, or a 128 meg...
