though I admit, its whole heartedly the artists decision to allow ripping, I believe it should be disallowed.

The flaws I see in allowing this are:

    1) Its not art if you rip, thus it goes against the nature of the artistic side of gamerenders (which is a lot >.>). Feel free to argue this.

    2) Gives the ability to the buyer to rip every layer, make almost the exact same tag, sell it for the exact same price, and still keep the original. +Rinse&Repeat. The problem in that is obvious, though debate that as well.

    3) Just causes more accusations of ripping and more false defense against ripping, etc. Plain and simple, it just gets unfair and messy with the words "rip all you want." Argue this, I've just seen a lot of this from empirical examples on varied gfx forums.

There's obviously more consequences, I just didn't think of them all.

Feel free to argue, bash, add, etc. I was just thinking.

I don't think I've ever heard of or seen anyone mention "Ripping Rights."
Anybody who uses someone elses tag in a competition like SOTW for example, is automatically disqualified regardless of what rights they have.

Exactly, i doubt anyone will really give rights to say they made it and also to say that they can rip any layer. Its just common sense. I don't think people are so dumb that they need it be said to them.

Well, I found 3 people on the first page of the auction sect...

Though its not stated blatantly, its obviously the same meaning..

    (And sorry Kirbir! <3)

    @Femi-Com
There's always going to be ripping at every gfx site, and logically, GR would have a lot compared to most because of the size of the forum. So I believe its more not enough evidence/blatant rips/people don't care to look into rips and post them.

Though, I would just suggest this to fortify that we allow no ripping what-so-ever. Just saying, though I do believe GR is pretty good about ripping :)

Hmm, I think it would just so people will stop :X

Allowing someone to rip just isn't right or artistic for that manner. Tags and LP's shouldn't be mechanical and done w.o. thinking, and that's what I see when people say things like that.

uh but how is making an identical tag ripping? if u buy a psd for LR for example if u follow the psd layer by layer of course u might get a very similar result thats why u got the psd for no? Learning rights... yes of course selling that psd u made out of learning another might be called ripping? but uh thats more like plagiarism using sum 1 else work modified.. cuz if u made the tag from scratch with out dragging a single layer of the other psd to yours why is it ripping? if u see how it was made obviously u will learn how to make that style of tag :/

then why do they even sell psd for learning rights? if u learn their style would be ripping it? ...

Slight, what you're saying has nothing to do with this topic.

Ripping would create even MORE similar tags (because you ripped the exact layers) and Buc's saying that allowing ppl to layer rip from your tags would cause a greater deterioration of artistic value.

No one is attacking LR selling lmao

Weather GR makes it a rule or not it wont change people from ripping. And if people want to give rights that allow to rip, let it be. They just wont beable to participate using the ripped tag in SOTW...ect. Thats it. Its what ever the seller gives rights too. Everyone knows already that ripping is unartistic. So theres no reason to make it a rule.

Even if everyone knew that ripping is inartistic, it obviously isn't stopping people from giving ripping rights to people for their tags.

Making this a rule would, at the very least, dissuade people from ripping. Telling people you can rip is just icing on the cake for rippers. It serves as a false impetus that they can rip and get away with it (and a lot of the time they do. We can't find all rippers)

If people know ripping is inartistic, then why would they give ripping rights?

Ripping should be against the rules period. It doesn't matter if the guy gives you rights or not. Srsly, people need to get their own skill.
