Would it be possble to reduce the minimum keyword length from 4 to 3 charachters in the search? I ask this becasue there are several words such as 'c4d' 'gun' 'air' etc. that it would be useful to search for...especially in the render section.

    Thanks

I dont think the current MySQL database coding allows for anything under 4 letters to be searched for, but I could be wrong, its happened in the past lol

The reason this is so is because the way that ipb searches. I'm assuming its using fulltext searches. These are done with the mysql database and these are the limitation's on them
    • Strings (what you're searching for) are broken down into their individual keywords (ie. when you search Day of Defeat it searches for Day of Defeat separatly
    • Keywords that are less than 4 characters long are ignored
    • Very popular words, called stopwords, are ignored
    • If more than 50% of the records match the keywords than no records are returned
    From my MySQL book

These are limitations the actual database is placing on the searching, not something that is set. In other words, it can't be changed.

We would, but we can't ;)
