Strange Problem With Windows

    Whenever I start up my computer and log in, the task bar and my desktop icons do not appear. I can use Ctrl+alt+del to access the run menu and run programs from there, but it's very annoying... Any ideas? (my startup programs are not running either)

    Run any virus/spyware checks?

    Also, go to taskmanager, is explorer.exe running?

    If not try New Task and jsut enter explorer.exe

    It may be that a virus could be infecting explorer.exe.

    if the above doesn't work, pop the XP disk in, and do a repair install. that should fix it.

    If that doesn't work, get Knoppix, back everything onto cd that you dont wanta lose, and reformat...
