Why didn't you just say that then?Anyways like you say most art works are large, calling them large pieces(or large art) lets us group it into one thing, since there aren't that many small pieces we can just use the real word for it.

Well on this site it's divided into these categories

There's:
Sigs
Larger Pieces
Renders
Photographs

This is a site for all of the above, this isn't deviantart, where all of the work is primarily large.
The work here is primarily on roughly a 400x100 canvas

This means that canvas size is the STANDARD, meaning we refer to anything bigger as "Larger piece"

Devinatart doesn't recognise signatures, and anything like that, all of their work is large and a larger canvas is standard, so they just define the larger pieces into sub categories, We don't
This site isn't primarily for large pieces so therefore we don't need to define them into sub categories.
So we call them "LP's"

Happy?
Stop whining

art is art, when i'm on a forum that associates with Smaller art work and Large Art work, i usually use the phrase New Large Art piece, or new piece in general...People have there own ways of calling it, and i think there entitled to there opinion and you should respect it.

Exactly the point I was trying to get across in my before posts, thankyou.imwellhung is right though, we are all entitled to our opinion.

And how many people get a Daily deviation or a top popular spot on the front page from a signature?

2 main reasons not to post signatures on dA:

- When you have a render/stock image, it gets deleted due Policy Violation since you don't own it. That means like 90% of all sigs can't be posted.
- People consider signatures as unfinished art and don't bother to comment it.

Point is, the large pieces of art, are called LP for organized classification and that's final. The Forum for LP's was made by the mods, who feel that it is correct. You are entitled to your opinion of art classification. If you feel the need to express your opinion with an atittude like that, then what makes you think we are going to agree with your opinion?

You are right, we would call large pieces of paintings, or CD covers, etc, LP's, because they ARE Large pieces. We don't call the signatures forum Small pieces or Small art, because avatars, pixel art, signatures, display pictures, forum skin pieces, logo's, orbs, and the like are all small forms of digital art.

It's just easier to classify larger works of art as LP's, and signatures as signatures, because signatures are very very common among almost all forums. LP's are posted in the LP forum, obvious with a more detailed description, of whether it's a 3D Art, CD Cover, Poster, Wallpaper, etc.

If we called the signature forum SP's, or Small Art, it wouldn't just be signatures, which is why we intend to call it the "Signature" forum.

He wanted to know why we call some things LPs, and this is not Deviantart k?k thanks...It's just a category someone came up with to make saying wallpaper, splash, and all that a little simpler.

hem.......i never said this was DA.....deviantart is a representation of all art forms...and what u will notice, is that most are not small......and omg your understanding of art is limited, wallpapers and splash? thats the best you could come up with for the representation of "large art?" try some of these
vexel
landscape/scenery
fractals/abstracts
photographs
photomanipulations
drawings, paintings etc

that's just to name a few

hmmmm, maybe there is a reason for the netword noob

Maybe theres a reason people think you should pull your head out of your ass

if i hadn't seen you act "nicely" in your last few posts, the only rant here would be me unleashing my fury and awsomeness on you :\

I really found this a pointless topic, because the answer is obvious
aeodus and xioushi hit it on the spot

on a side note

deviant art is meant for more of a high quality art, the standard for work being considered quality art is much higher, its meant for people who have a real talent with art other than signature making, yes there are signature makers on deviant art, but usually they can do more than just make signaatures....

signatures take alot less skill than most other forms of art, such as when i watched a youtube video of somone painting a spiderman picture in ps with just brushes, that actually looked realistic, or the recreation of the mona lisa in ms paint, with signtures its usually people using stocks, c4ds and renders, to make up the entire image, often times, there was not much involved in creation, other than placement, and text, i mean it takes skill, but not a 1/4 as much as proffesional/real artwork........ gotta go gdit
to be continued

..maybe
