Stop Calling It "lp"

this has amazed me for a while.
why do you people call ART a 'LP' ? would you call one of dalis works a 'LP'? would you call paintings done by fine artists that sell for over 10,000$ a 'LP'? would you call album covers from great artists a 'LP'? so why the hell do you people refer to LP

 

LP stands for Large Piece, we don't call everything LP, just the pieces that are large(kind of a "duh").LP is just a general category for all things large(wallpapers,splashes,posters,etc.)

 

most art pieces are large....thats kind of a duh......go on DA and say that isnt true <_<

 

But in a gfx forum where sigs are more prominent than large art it makes sense And if it was called LA people would get confused w/ los angeles

this is not a forum for "signatures" first and foremost, it is just a rendering site, then signatures, but a Large art section was also erected......sigs arent called SA are they? (small art)

I haven't used this forum once for rendering, even though I suppose that's the purpose.

Back on topic, there is nothing wrong with a piece of large artwork a LP.

 

Its like saying why dont you call sigs art.

He wanted to know why we call some things LPs, and this is not Deviantart k?k thanks...It's just a category someone came up with to make saying wallpaper,splash, and all that a little simpler.

 

hem.......i never said this was DA.....deviantart is a representation of all art forms...and what u will notice, is that most are not small......and omg your understanding of art is limited, wallpapers and splash? thats the best you could come up with for the representation of "large art?" try some of these
vexel
landscape/scenery
fractals/abstracts
photographs
photomanipulations
drawings, paintings etc

that's just to name a few

You were telling me to go to Deviant Art to find out that most art forms are "large", I don't need to go there because he was asking why do people say "LP" here.I know there are more things then just wallpapers and splashes, I could sit here and list them all day but I don't need to since most people already know what they are(like you have proven, congratulations).THAT IS WHY THE ACRONYM LP WAS MADE, so people here(and other boards) wouldn't have to list what type of large piece it is,it makes typing go by a lot faster.This is the internet not a classroom, so there is no need to give art lessons...
