You didn't need to know Steve in person to be infected by his constant enthusiasm, passion, and upbeat personality. He was really the kind of guy who brought warmth to the screen, and his presence was always a joy. He will be missed; the consolation comes knowing that he died doing what he loved and what he did best. He was passionate about animals aswell as his family. You may or may not know, but he died whilst filming footage for his daughter Bindi's documentary/TV show. So he died whilst doing something for his daughter.

The world has lost a great conservationist and human being, and Australia has lost one of its great icons.

He was an awesome animal activist. And those that make fun of him for protecting something he really loved......I hope you get yours in the end. Karma's a bitch.

    R.I.P. Steve.

Yea I heard about it after it happened. Really sad, he was a great guy and I really enjoyed watching his shows.

Kind of ironic though, he was killed by a sting ray which have hardly killed anyone instead of a crocidle...

Yea it's a shame for the guy. But for him it wwasn't such a bad way to die, it was the way he wanted to die, with animals etc... it's what he lived for really.

Yeah, I have to say when I first heard about this I was surprised. But I was also surprisingly shocked that I was surprised. I mean I had always though, "You know that man is going to push it one day, and that Crocidile is going to rip his hand right off!" But no...it wasn't a Croc at all, something known for being dangerous and viscious, it was a Stingray...something known to be gentle and kind.

I have to say that it is a tragic loss to Austrailia and to the whole world that this man has passed. My prayers go out to his wife and kids. He died doing what he loved to do and he made a difference in a lot of peoples lives. Whether or not most people look at him as your traditional "Hero" he was infact one.

Ill miss him, I know my kids will miss watchign him...and Im sure there are plenty more who will also miss him. Rest in peace Steve, god be with you and your family.

I wonder what made the ray go into defense and attack him.
