Stereotyping Music

Ive only been on the forum for a little while,and i prefer rap music.Some people like it,some don't.That's fine.What really pisses me off is that rock fans sometimes think that rap is all about "shooting people,robbing,and killing" and rap fans think rock is all about "screaming and worshipping the devil".This ---- needs to stop.You don't like rap/rock,thats fine,just don't make stereotypes turn you away from/make you flame music.LISTEN TO THE MUSIC FIRST.READ/LISTEN TO THE LYRICS.THEN YOU CAN TALK ABOUT IT "RUINING THE WORLD".

Btw,listen to Jedi Mind Tricks if you think rap is about killing and robbing.Some of it is,some of it isn't.

Please respect peoples opinions and choices in music,and don't flame it.

Anyway,this isnt just for rap fans =P Ive seen a lot of people saying rock is just screaming and whatnot.

 

I say the only thing bringing this world down is Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys coming back. but thats just imo.

But yeah, im no fan of rap, never liked it nor never will, is mainly just computerized music, but i wont bitch about it nor will i preach out some other genre of music.

 

Rap is not computerized music,its mostly about the lyrics.Mostly complex and unique.

 

I prefer any music that suits my mood, I don't really care what others think, like rock fanatics and then rap gangstas, I'm just an everyday person listening to whatever music suits my mood ^^.

I agree with you but there are rappers who seem to make this stereotype seem true when it is not. Rap isn't what I listen to but I can tolerate it. I listen to metal. Not the stuff you see on MTV that claims to be metal but real metal. People assume I worship the devil and that I am goth because I listen to metal when I am not goth.

How much have you even listened to?Have you listened to the unique stuff,Jedi Mind Tricks,Immortal Technique,and Tech N9ne?No.Listen to them and you'll agree on unique

The stuff that all sounds the same is the music they parade on MTV,G Unit and what-not.
