I don't get the difference, too lazy to read something that's 10 page long, anyways.. can anyone just tell me how to find my Static IP I need it to portforward ;P EDIT Can I just go to whatismyip.com? Is that my static? Or is that just my WAN.
Are your going to portfoward to set up some sort of gaming server ? If so www.whatismyip.com will work.
Bah, I got kicked offline when I was telling you this, just go to your connections and use the one you find under advanced status. Or whatismyip works.
Word, my portforwarding is correct. In portforward.com it says my router is not able to portforward valve/steam/cs So.. what do I do when I can't portforward? Do I have to open dmz?
There are two types of WAN ip's... Static, and Dynamic. Static stays the same, Dynamic changes. You shouldnt need your IP to open up a port for any of the value games... If you have a Linksys, under Applications and Gaming you should just put in a start Port (around 27000) and an end Port (around 27100). Leave it as 'Both', you could specifiy UDP if you want. Then in the place that asks for your last 3 digits of your '192.168.1.___' ip, you just put in the last 3 digits of your Local IP Address.
Putting your computer on the DMZ host means all the ports of your external IP address will be forwarded to your computer, effectivly disabling the firewall aspect of your router. I actually have to use the DMZ for CS, portforwarding doesnt seem to work right (for cs that is, everything else works fine).
