To cut a long story short: Yesterday while I was at my friends house, his mum asked me to fix his home network, so I did. Just before I was leaving his mum offered to give me a computer for helping (from his mum's office). So now I've got a spare PC. I wan't to turn it into a server running medal of honor: allied assault. I just need to know how to do it.

I was thinking of reformatting it, and installing ubuntu on it. Although after that I'm stumped. Any help?

Set up a net connection, possibly a dedicated connection. then install allied assault and any other mods you wish. then your done, unplug your monitor and stuff and put it on your main and make a duel screen :P

Yeh, but where can I get MOH:AA for Linux?

EDIT: There's a problem with the video drivers, so I'm gonna have to look for another distro.

Post the specs first, if you have a very bad pc, it isn't even possible to have a server. Then it that's okay, you should get a good connection, with a good upload speed (Not sure but for 8 players around 45kb/sec). Tell us if you have that first ;)

And for setting up the server itself:

    That should work :)

Well it's a 900 Mhz P3, with 512MB SDRAM, 20 GB HDD and 32 MB GFX card. It also has Win 98 SE on it ATM. And my 8mb/s connection should be good enough for a 10 person server at least.

I would suggest getting a t1, but those are expensive :P Also, make sure you have a dedicated static ip for your server. Otherwise the IP will change very time you restart it.

    My connection is faster than T1 (T1 runs at 1.544 mb/s and T3 is 44.736 mb/s). And I do have a static ip :D.
