john. I'm thinking. You, myself and a few others are the only ones in here that have taken math classes > algebra.
No, I went to Algebra a year early. , I'm in trig now. -x^2 is not an imaginary number... -9^2=81 Now, -x^1/2 is an imaginary number. (i.e. anything raised to the half power, is the same as taking a square root)
wrong. -9^2 = 81 not -81. Do it the long way. -9 x -9 = 81 Your caluculator gives you the wrong answer when it comes to squaring a negative.
It isn't a compitition. Although, you can't go to pre-cal as a freshman, you only would have one more math to be offered to you in highschool and you need three...(or four?) to graduate. Anyways, I was in Algebra in middle school. Either way, I don't believe you. Lol. If you use a real calculater...like a scientific one, then it will work. -9^2=81.
Don't believe what? that sqrt(x^2) != x? or that im in pre-calculus as a freshman? http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/9485/fridayze7uj8.png 7th - algebra 1 8th - geometry summer '06 - algebra 2 now - pre-calc 10th - calc ab 11th - calc bc (or ab and bc in same year) 12th - dual-enrole -> differential equations if ab and bc in same year -> Maxtrix Theory Mm k.
I know the math. I don't believe you are in pre-cal as a freshman. Still don't. But, whatever floats your boat. :unsure:
No, It wouldn't work even if it was a scientific calculator...because in the statement (?) -9^2, the power 2 is being applied to only the 9, so it would be -(9^2)=-9^2 for a scientific calculator. If you want to make the answer come out as 81, you would put it in brackets so: (-9)^2 I hope thats right...im only in grade 9...
No. Get a scientific calculater. Type it in. -9^2. It will come out, to be 81. You are taking -9 and multiplying it by itself.
The main reason I don't believe you, is you're trying so hard to prove it to me. Why would you care what some kid thinks of you?
I didn't downsize you, you downsized me by saying, "Oh yea, I'm blah blah blah." Pride, is like the most useless character flaw...ever...
